These jeans nearly ended my bathroom independence.

Gap's belted wide-leg baggy midrise jeans, size 8/29 tall. I'm usually a 6-8, sized up to an 8 here and it's the right call.

The length is the whole story. Hits the floor flat-footed, no break, no dragging, no grunge I didn't ask for. Raw hem, light wash, deconstructed — nothing like this currently lives in my closet.

The belt is cute. The belt is also a liability if you're the type who waits until the last possible second to pee. Consider yourself warned. Skip it or don't, the pants hold up either way.

6'3", 36" inseam, almost 40 and still hunting for jeans that actually reach my ankles. Gap denim came through.

I almost skipped these because the reviews were SO split. Here's what actually happened when I tried them. 👇

I'm 6'3" with a 36" inseam (almost 40 this year 🎂) and normally a size 6-8 at Athleta. For the Skyline Barrel Pants, I sized up to a 10 Tall — and I don't regret it.

The reviews were basically 50/50: half said true to size, half said they ran small. Turns out it comes down to body shape. If you're curvy with a defined waist and bigger hips → go true to size. If you're more rectangular like me → it depends, and here's why:

When I first tried the 10 Tall on, it felt like *the* fit — snug waistband, but supportive-snug, not cutting-in-snug. Wear them around the house for a bit before you judge. Mine loosened up in the waist within a few wears, which tells me a lot of rectangular-shaped girls tried true-to-size, panicked at "too tight," and returned them too soon.

Verdict: barrel pants are one of those rare styles that flatter every body type, and these are no exception. Might still grab a backup pair in my true size 8 down the line, but the 10 Tall with a belt is a win.

what’s making these work:

fit notes: athleta bottoms tend to run big, so i normally size down to a small. sized up to medium here on purpose for a looser thigh, still a little tulip-hem, not baggy in the waist. hits right above the knee on my frame — shorter than 6’3”? expect these to hit longer on you.

6’3”, 36” inseam, almost 40 — and Gap just found my bank account number again.

Here’s the thing about oversized on a rectangle shape: it can swallow you whole if you let it. But as a tall woman, I’ve learned you can wear the volume as long as you give it a focal point somewhere else. The scrunched sleeves and ties do exactly that — not loud, just enough shape to keep the whole thing from reading as “wearing a tent.”

I left it unbuttoned top and bottom for a little more dimension. Styled it as workwear here, but this one dresses down just as easily.

Sizing: I’m usually a medium in tops, sized down to a small here. Gap oversized fits generous — factor that in.

gap haul continued — wide leg pleated jeans, and this one comes with a plot twist.

6'3", 36" inseam, almost 40. spoiler: i exchanged these for a large tall. started in a small tall, then tried a medium tall, ended up sizing all the way up because i wanted the oversized, baggy wide-leg pleated look.

these run narrow. if you're new to the wide leg jean game, or you want wide leg without the exaggerated volume, size up. small and medium fit about the same in the waist, barely any difference, but the medium was about half an inch shorter in length.

elastic waistband plus a drawstring, so you can size up even more for the oversized look. super soft, super lightweight, pleat detail on the front and the back. styled right, these could pass as elevated denim.

banana republic has officially become a problem and i am not sorry about it

grabbed this 100% cotton poplin striped drop waist mini in a medium tall and i cannot stop talking about it. i'm 6'3" with a 36" inseam, about to hit 40, and this skirt just gets tall rectangle bodies in a way that feels rare. the drawstring waist means you choose your own adventure — cinch it up high for definition or let it sit low and lean into the drop waist drama. it's got pockets (obviously non-negotiable), it's floaty without being shapeless, and it gives volume on the bottom exactly where i want it.

the sale price is what pushed me over the edge, not that i needed much pushing. we all know i can't stop.

i have a pretty rectangular body — waist and hips are basically the same measurement — so my style yeses have to work harder than “i like the color.” wide and cropped, paired with more volume on the bottom, is what actually gives me shape. this blouse does the wide and cropped half of that job well.

i’m wearing it in a medium tall. it’s longer in the back with some pleating, which i like, and the button neck means you can leave the top buttons open for a soft v-neck instead of the crew look. the 3/4 sleeve length hits right at the spot i want, and the cotton already feels like it’s going to get better with every wash.

it was on clearance, so it’s mine no matter what — not going up on my poshmark. but if you follow along, my poshmark closet is where i list everything that fit my tall frame but doesn’t fit me anymore, so it’s worth a look.

Part 1 - not every blouse needs to be tall sized to earn a spot in my closet, and this one’s a good example of why.

picked this up on clearance during the banana republic summer sale, so fair warning — it’s a maybe on availability, but stick with me because the point isn’t really this exact blouse. it’s the reminder to try things when they’re a great price, even when they’re not labeled for us.

unboxing it now because it checked almost every box on my list before it even left the bag: oversized boxy fit, 3/4 length sleeves (so the “not tall” thing doesn’t even matter), 100% cotton, and a vintage wash color i’m already obsessed with.

i’m 6’3” with a 36” inseam, almost 40, and typically a medium in tops. let’s see how it does.
