Worked on my grandson’s room recently. They were coming down for the week, and I love surprising them. I want my grandsons to know they have a place in my home that’s just theirs. Creating this space means sacrifices: I don’t have the big closet I dream of, or an exercise room, art studio, or library. That might seem silly since they only visit every few months, but the message it sends—that they are deeply loved—is worth so much more. PS my dog’s ears are always like that I promise.
