Things to consider when building, Part 5: The Pantry I won’t lie, the pantry was the hardest place for me to design. Too many ideas running through my head. So we added what we knew we wanted and decided will update it down the road once I can figure out exactly what I want to do! One of the things we knew we wanted for sure was an ice maker. But after going way over budget on appliances we opted out of the Cafe nugget ice maker we wanted in favor of this clear ice maker. As much as I love pebble ice, this has been a great choice for us. The ice is a perfect square and is clear. With 4 kids and 3 adults in our house, we go through a lot of ice and this thing keeps up. The beverage fridge is also awesome to hold all of our drinks and even serves as an overflow to our main refrigerator when needed! The counter top has been perfect to house our toaster, and fresh produce. We added open shelves above the counter and while they are a pretty place to display my @stanley_brand addiction I still can’t decide if I think they are practical. Would you believe our shelves for storage are from IKEA? Seriously, I really couldn’t decide on a design in here and these shelves are serving a great purpose until I figure that out. The clear containers help so much with making the space feel organized instead of cluttered. Also- it may be hard to tell but we have a motion sensor light in this space and it’s amazing. No more fumbling for the light as we go in the pantry 100x a day. If you’re building and have a place you just can’t decide on the design of.. you’re not alone. Give yourself some time to figure it out. After all, you want to love it.. don’t you? 9 months in and I still don’t know.. but I sure love the space as it is. What would you do in here?
