Making custom café curtains as someone who cannot sew and does not do math 😅

Here’s what you need:
✧ 1 curtain panel (85” long)
✧ Tension rod
✧ No sew hem tape (my secret weapon)
✧ Curtain rings with clips
✧ Iron
✧ ChatGPT or Claude to do the math for you 💁

Cut the panel in half, hem with hemming tape, press a few pleats, hang with clips. Done.

Day 8! I took one curtain panel and made it into two short panels to create a whimsical cafe curtain.

They’re not “out”… but I’m never installing them in another home. Not mine, not a client’s, not anywhere.

Here’s why:
✧ They block way too much natural light
✧ They feel heavy in almost every space
✧ You can never fully open the window
✧ They date a home faster than people realize

What I’d choose instead: layered curtains, Roman shades, woven shades, or even a beautiful window film if privacy is the goal (like the Artscape Old English I used in my powder bath 🐆).

Whimsical, layered, and light > heavy and dated every single time.

I decided to trade my studio Pilates classes for classes at home to save a ton of money! This is the reformer I bought and my favorite feature is it can fold up and be stored out of the way.

A few good layers will always beat a giant pile, and this quilt is the perfect foundation.

Confession: I’ve never been a blue person. But this one won me over. The color pairs beautifully with our blue green walls, which have always been tricky to coordinate bedding with.

A few things I love about this quilt: it’s lightweight and breathable, so it works as a cooler layer in summer and a cozy one in winter. It’s machine washable, resists pilling and fading, and the cross stitch detail gives it the prettiest finishing touch.

Summer bedding refresh

Y’all I did it! The ceiling is officially blue. @benjaminmoore Ocean City Blue to be exact, and it’s the unexpected detail this little room was needing.

Still to go: the exhaust fan cover (I’ve got a trick for painting plastic), maybe the window casing (which would snowball into the baseboards and door casing too), and crown molding to finish off the ceiling.

This tiny room started as the most basic builder grade space in our house.
Now? Cheetah wallpaper, black accents, brass details, glass shelves, a moody mirror, and a pink alligator that makes me smile every time I walk past.

It’s not quite finished (still waiting on a few last pieces), but I had to show you how far this little room has come.

Powder baths are small, which makes them the PERFECT place to take a design risk. Go bold. You won’t regret it.

Big progress today. I ordered a canvas wrapped print of this fun pink alligator and it is everything I wanted, a little unexpected, a lot of personality, and the perfect playful moment against the cheetah wallpaper. I also finally got the glass shelves styled.

A couple of plan changes: the café curtain panels are on backorder so we’re still waiting on those, and I’ve decided to skip the crown molding and just paint the ceiling instead. Sometimes finishing a project means knowing when to simplify.

I think I may have mastered my hair issues

I tested two different uplights for dark corners so you don’t have to.

Both are incredible for adding warmth and dimension to any dark corner in your home. Here’s the breakdown:
The plug-in version: great if you have an outlet nearby. The cord tucks away easily and the light is stunning once it’s positioned.

The battery powered version: total freedom to place it anywhere, no outlet needed. Perfect for corners where a cord would be a problem.

Both come with a remote, both can be dimmed, both let you change the light color, and both have a timer. Genuinely could not pick a favorite which is why I’m linking both.

Today’s lesson: this is why the powder bath is taking forever.

If you’ve been hanging out with me in my stories, you might remember the first towel ring I ordered. I hated it the second it arrived. So I sent it back and ordered THIS one, which I absolutely love. But the install? I am so dumb. I put it on the wrong way the FIRST time, had to take it off, and start over. Sometimes the simple projects humble you.

Worth it though. This brass towel ring is exactly the right finish for the space and brings in another touch of warmth against the wallpaper.
