Hop over to @slpplaylist on Instagram if you want to learn more speech and language tips and tricks! ⭐️ We may find repetition boring, but toddler’s don’t! This is how they learn! ⭐️ We can use that love of repetition to foster language development ➡️ Repetition allows for opportunities for your child to see it, hear it and eventually try it out for themeselves. 🔑 Choose a game that engages your toddler. Here, I’ve chosen Mr. Bucket (a favorite from my own childhood). 🗣️Pair an action in the game with a 2-3 word phrase. In this game, the object is to scoop the balls and put them into the bucket. So I’ve chosen “Scoop” and “Put it in” as my target language. 🪣 I began by scooping and modeling the language for my toddler to hear and see. When he joined me, I continued to model until he began to say the phrase with me. After a while, he was off scoopin’ all the balls himself. The repeated opportunities to pair the action of scooping and dumping with related vocabulary 🟰language LEARNING. 🤩 it’s so much more than getting someone to say a word. Done correctly we’ve taught conceptual knowledge as well. 💕 🧠 Child development is brain development. 🧠 🌟 Follow @slpplaylist for more language and learning through play and your day! speechtherapy toddlerdevelopment toddlerlanguage toddlermilestones earlyinterventionspeech latetalkers LTKKids LTKFamily LTKFindsUnder50
