So, when they finally returned and made it to my club, I grabbed a tray immediately. I’m happy to report…they did not disappoint. Each tray includes six perfectly portioned, personal-sized tarts that are almost too pretty to eat, filled with smooth pastry cream, topped with fresh strawberries and blueberries, and finished with a dollop of whipped cream. Let’s start with the pastry cream! I was expecting it to be super sweet, but it struck the perfect balance, just sweet enough to complement the buttery tart shell and fresh berries, without being cloying or heavy. Instead of a few bites, I found myself wanting more. The texture was silky-smooth, and the cream-to-shell ratio was spot on. While it’s not made from scratch (it’s a powdered mix), you honestly wouldn’t know unless you’re a pastry cream purist. It’s creamy, luscious, and has a really lovely mouthfeel. Now the berries! They’re glazed just right, enough to give them a beautiful sheen and a subtle boost of sweetness, but without that overly goopy texture that some bakery tarts have. The berries themselves were fresh, juicy, and had a nice bite to them, adding a refreshing contrast to the smooth pastry cream. The tart shell itself had a delicious buttery flavor and held everything together beautifully. My only gripe? The underside was a little soggy. I bought mine the day after they were made and didn’t try them until the following day, so that likely played a role. If you spot them on the shelf and they weren’t made fresh that day, I’d suggest waiting for a fresher batch if you can. And that little dollop of whipped cream? A delightful, airy touch that tied everything together. It is more of a Cool Whip-style topping rather than real whipped cream, so if you’re not into that, just a heads up. Overall, I’m so happy these made it to my club at last. I’ll definitely be buying them again, and if I’m lucky enough to grab a tray made fresh the same day and the shell holds up, I’ll bump my rating to a full 10/10!
