There’s something unforgettable about waking up at HOSHINOYA Fuji, tucked above Lake Kawaguchi with Mt. Fuji appearing and disappearing through the clouds. It feels like a modern mountain retreat designed for quiet moments and slow mornings.

The cabins are intentionally minimal—clean lines, warm wood, and huge windows that frame the landscape like artwork. Sunrise hits differently here, with crisp forest air and stillness that makes you want to stay outside a little longer.

One thing I loved is how many daily activities they offer to connect you with the outdoors: early-morning canoeing on the lake, guided forest walks, campfire coffee brewing, smoking workshops, stargazing sessions, and even outdoor cooking classes where you prepare your own meal surrounded by nature. Everything is optional, but it all feels thoughtfully curated.

The restaurant is another highlight—seasonal menus inspired by the local forests and lakes, served in a warm, minimalist dining room or as a private dining experience in your cabin. Fresh produce, smoked elements, and flavors you don’t find anywhere else in the Fuji area.

It’s the kind of place where time slows down, where sunsets stretch longer, and where the simple act of sitting on your terrace becomes the best part of the day. If you want a Fuji stay that’s serene, design-forward, and rooted in nature, this is the one.
