Welcome back to my series “Back To Baking Basics”, where I teach you the fundamental of baking that no one ever explains to you so that you can be more confident in the kitchen. Whether you are a baby beginner baker or a seasoned life long pro, I am sure there is something I can help teach you. . Ep.5: Brown Sugar vs Granulated Sugar . Granulated Sugar - known by the names White sugar, table sugar, granulated sugar, or regular sugar. It is a refined sugar made from crystallized sucrose from sugarcane or sugar beets, the closest sugar we have to pure sucrose due to its high refinement process. {vs} Brown Sugar - granulated sugar mixed with molasses. The brown sugar creates a moist, chewy texture in baked goods. Light brown sugar has a lesser molasses content compared to dark brown sugar. . We use granulated sugar most recipes as it is universal with a neutral taste to sweeten baked goods, which creates a light, crispy texture. We Use brown sugar recipes when we want a chewy, caramel flavor with a soft texture in baked goods. You can make light brown sugar at home with 1 cup of granulated sugar mixed with 1 tbsp of molasses mixing until smooth. if you want dark brown sugar add 2 tbsp of molasses into 1 cup of granulated sugar mixing until smooth. . serecreate bakingbasics brownsugar bakinghacks LTKSaleAlert LTKSeasonal LTKFindsUnder100
