Set in 1933 Mississippi during the Great Depression, this story follows 11-year-old orphan Meg, independent Birdie, and Meg’s struggling mother Charlie. When their lives collide, the three women form an unexpected bond and come together to take control of their futures.

I loved the strong female characters, unlikely friendships, and the way the story explores resilience, survival, and the choices women make when the odds are stacked against them.

Definitely one I’d recommend if you enjoy historical fiction with heart, strong women, and a story that pulls you in.
