PERSONAL ITEM PERFECTION ✈️👜
I am a personal item maximalist because I want to save valuable suitcase space for clothes, shoes, and toiletries. Everything else—including decanted makeup—goes in my personal item.

I organize everything into pouches that are accessible and easy to grab—without digging through a black hole of a bag at 35,000 feet.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: I pack my personal item assuming I’m also carrying on my suitcase.

👉 If I were checking my suitcase, I’d pack this differently. Some of what you see here would move into my checked bag, and my personal item would ALWAYS include:
• essential toiletries/medications
• a full backup outfit
• anything I absolutely cannot afford to have lost or delayed

Because I trust the airlines…but not that much. 😏

🚨 If your shoes need their own suitcase… Part 2 is for you!

If you’re trying to fit everything into a carry-on, you can’t pack “emotional support shoes” 🤭

Instead, follow the 3-shoe rule:
👟 1 comfortable walking shoe
👠 1 dressier shoe
🥾 1 trip-specific shoe (think hiking boots, sandals, snow boots, water shoes, etc.)

Then level up with these pro packing tips:
✔️ Pack shoes in a shoe bag or shower cap to keep the rest of your clothes clean.
✔️ Fill the inside of your shoes with socks, chargers, jewelry, or other small items so no space goes to waste.
