Save this for your next Harry Potter themed Halloween DIY!

🎃 Harry Potter floating pumpkins:
Craft Pumpkins
Paint (orange, green, brown)
Wood stain (dark brown)
Hot Craft Knife
Clear Craft Line
Remote Controlled Tea Lights

✨Draw a face on the pumpkin with a marker, and then use a craft hot knife to cut the pumpkin (in a well ventilated area!). Dry brush depth and color onto your pumpkin with acrylic paint, and after that dries, apply a thin layer of wood stain to the pumpkin and wipe off the access. This gives the pumpkin dimension and makes it look more realistic, versus a flat bright orange.
After it dries, use a small drill bit to drill a hole horizontally through the stem of the pumpkin, and then feed your clear craft line through it for hanging. Tie it off, and your pumpkins are ready to hang! I just use command strips! If you want them to light up, add remote controlled tea lights inside!

I’ve always loved to bake and I’ve always loved to draw and paint, but I’ve never combined the two. Until today!
10/10 recommend using sugar cookies as canvas.

It’s also a fun activity for kids! We are currently preparing another batch of dough so we can paint more cookies. I foresee cookies going to the neighbors so we don’t have to eat them all 😅

A Harry Potter fan must! A Self-Dusting Picture Frame, like something you’d see at the Burrow!!

DIY Tools:
Patience
A drink (according to my husband)
A Frame (mine is an 11x14 from Hobby Lobby)
A photo stand (mine is from Michael’s)
A Reciprocating Linear Actuator (mine is from Amazon)
A photo (mine is from @upcycled_vintage_art)
A feather duster with a wooden handle (mine is from Walmart)

Key points: you need to mount the actuator to the back of the picture frame. The arm has rotational movement, so it will need to be kept off the back of the frame and the wall (this is not a wall mountable frame! Think about putting it on a table).
The actuator is heavy and will need support to stay upright when moving- I used a photo stand with wide back support.
The actuator makes noise! It’s not a silent mechanism, but it can also be ignored.
The duster needs to be attached to the arm of the actuator just above the top of the frame to give the dusting illusion. This is where the wooden handle is important, so you can drill a stabilizer (such as a bolt) in to it to keep it upright while it moves.
You will need a plug! This particular actuator is not battery ran, so a plug is required to function once assembled.

I definitely snagged this pixie inspiration from @clevergirlpotter! My pesky little pixies usually live in my office, but for Christmas they got a gold glow up and a new home. I wanted it to seem like they were causing their usual mayhem, and I think it turned out quite nice!

All I did was spray paint them black (to totally get rid of the blue color) and then gold, and I used craft wire to hold them in place among the book pages. Easy peasy!
