Want the look of a large planter without spending a fortune on potting soil?

Instead of filling the entire planter with soil, I placed a plastic plant saucer inside the planter about halfway down and drilled several drainage holes in it.

The saucer acts as a false bottom, so I only needed enough soil for the top portion where the plant’s roots will actually grow.

✅ Uses less potting soil
✅ Makes the planter lighter to move
✅ Saves money
✅ Still gives you the look of a large statement planter
