In the 70’s we grew up with a Barbie in hand trying to force our bodies to shift into some unrealistic size of woman. It took a long time for use to put our size out there on this platform. We still get a lot of unkind comments about it, but are so happy we did.

120lbs is what Barbie was and that number sticks in so many of our minds. We need to weigh that or less, but that’s just not true. Everybody is different. We show our weight to normalize weight and show that you don’t only have to weigh 120lbs to look beautiful.

Turns out I’m too old for this.
And by this, I mean shoes that hurt, pinch, blister, and expect me to suffer just to look ‘put together.’

Somewhere along the way, we were taught that beauty requires discomfort. That if it hurts, it must be working. That we’re supposed to squeeze ourselves; our feet, our bodies, our confidence into something smaller to be worthy.

But here’s the truth: I’m not too old. I’m just done.

Done apologizing for choosing comfort.
Done pretending pain is a badge of honor. Done dressing for who I used to be instead of the woman I am now.

This body has carried me through decades of life raising kids, showing up, loving deeply, beating breast cancer, laughing hard, and learning who I am. It deserves respect. It deserves ease. And yes, it deserves cute shoes that don’t ruin my night.

Aging didn’t take anything from me.
It gave me confidence, clarity, and the courage to choose myself.

So if that means supportive shoes, softer fabrics, and no tolerance for discomfort, then good because I’m worth it it.
