The thread I use in my salon? Gutterman polyester thread. It’s so thin, strong, barely tangles, doesn’t swell when wet, and comes in so many shades.

Using tools and supplies that extension companies don’t supply is how I customize every client experience. It’s an art—and sometimes, creating something unique means reaching for tools that go beyond the mainstream.

Did you know that it’s necessary to clean your hairbrushes on the regular, the same as you do with your makeup brushes? Product, skin cells, and hair all build up on your brush with use and you could be hurting your hair and scalp by not cleaning it regularly.

Here’s how to clean your hairbrush.

1. Clean out hair from your brush. You can buy a brush cleaning tool like this at the Dollarama.

2. Make a nice bubble bath in your sink. Hot water, with a splash of Dawn dish soap. It’s the best—gentle but will break down the product build-up.

3. Completely submerge your brushes, and also hair clips that you use for styling into the bath. Let them sit for 30 mins.

4. Remove and rinse with water. Depending on how nasty they were, you can use a microfiber cloth to pull off any residual product.

5. Lay on a clean towel to dry.

6. Your hair will thank you and I promise the first time you use your freshly clean brush you’ll feel the difference.

Chemical Sunscreens: These work by absorbing UV rays and converting them into heat. (Heat rash anyone?)However, ingredients like avobenzone and octocrylene can lead to unwanted changes in your hair color, turning those beautiful blonde locks brassy, peach, or even orange!

✨ Pro Tip: Always review your sunscreen label and opt for a physical barrier formulation to safeguard the integrity and vibrancy of your hair. Mineral/physical blocks should only have a few ingredients. Zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as the active ingredient.
