First, choose a matte-finish fabric — it’s more timeless and won’t go out of style next season.
Avoid accessories like colored zippers, metallic belts, or shiny fabrics. They may look eye-catching at first, but once you start wearing the coat, you’ll notice how those details make it harder to style and often too sporty.

Length matters.
Mid-thigh length is the trickiest — it visually shortens the body unless you balance it with long pants or jeans and pointed-toe shoes.
