Easy sensory play for toddlers or preschoolers and great for indoor days. It’s super easy to set up with everything you already have at home.

🌈 Pastel Marbled Swirls 🌈

Just pour a bit of milk into a tray, add drops of food coloring, and dip a cotton swab in dish soap. Then touch the colors and watch them swirl like magic.

Why it works? The soap breaks the surface tension in the milk, pushing the colors as it moves through the fat.

No prep, minimal mess, and they’ll want to do it again and again.

Sensory color mixing activity for toddlers · Easy milk experiment · Preschool STEM idea

In part two of our milk + food coloring tray play, we took it a step further and explored color theory through mixing and contrast.

We began with swirled marbled colors (see part one pinned!), then fully mixed each section to reveal smooth pastels:
🩷 Pink
💛 Yellow
💧 Aqua
🍑 Peach (pink + yellow)
💜 Lavender (aqua + pink)
🌿 Green (yellow + aqua)

Once mixed, each section became a uniform hue and then we arranged the tray to show complementary color pairs across from each other:

🩷 Pink ↔️ 🌿 Green
💛 Yellow ↔️ 💜 Purple
💧 Aqua ↔️ 🍑 Peach (split harmony)

Low-prep, mesmerizing, and surprisingly educational, a beautiful way to introduce early STEM concepts through play.

My list of must have for starting solids for babies.
My toddlers are now almost 18 months and I started solids with them at around 5 months. These items are still our favorites and used daily!

I tried a variety of bowl, spoons and freezer cubes and these are my favorites by far. Cubes are large capacity so you can transfer frozen purées/liquids into stasher bag for longer storage in the freezer.

This book is really great if you want to start with purées and ease into BLW or do a combo of both!

Dream closet

Once upon a closet…

What began as a messy storage closet space in July 2024 slowly, quietly, became something else.

Nine months later (ironically just like a pregnancy) this space was reborn into a magical world for my girls.

A corner made of dreams and books, soft lights and tiny treasures.

I didn’t rush it.
I let it grow, evolve, breathe.

And maybe that’s the lesson:
Not everything beautiful is built quickly.
Sometimes magic takes time.
