The last few days of school always have a certain energy. 😂

I’m completely obsessed.

Throw one over a simple outfit like this & suddenly it looks like you put in way more effort than you actually did. Pair it with a tank & distressed jeans, layer it over a summer dress, toss it on over a bathing suit… it just works.

Also, this gold color has me in a chokehold lately. 💛

It’s not replacing my long-standing love affair with red just yet… but it’s definitely making a strong case for itself.

Weekend farmer’s market adventures. ☀️🌿

I’m finally getting around to posting this fit from yesterday.

The tomatoes came home with me because they were juicy & looked too good to pass up. I grabbed some fresh spring mix for salads, radishes, a honeybee-scented goat milk soap that smells absolutely divine, & of course a bag of homemade apple cider cinnamon donuts because sometimes happiness comes in donut form. 🍩😂

The hibiscus iced tea was also non-negotiable. At this point it’s basically part of my farmer’s market routine.

We wandered through the vendors, enjoyed the sunshine, people watched, & admired what felt like every dog in town. It’s one of the few times I think, “Maybe I need a dog.” Then I remember who would be walking it at 5 AM in February. 😆

We also stopped downtown for breakfast. A lightly toasted jalapeño cheddar bagel piled with bacon, egg, cheese, sausage, & a drizzle of maple syrup. Was it a caloric splurge? Absolutely. Was it worth it? Also absolutely.

As for the outfit… lightweight, comfortable, breathable, & most importantly, I wasn’t sweating my ass off. That’s a weekend win in my book. ☀️

☀️ A local downtown concert seemed like the perfect excuse to pull this one together.

A strappy linen top, gold crinkle barrel pants, comfy sandals, gold jewelry, & a navy trucker hat that somehow ended up being exactly what this outfit needed.

The funny thing is, I think my favorite part might be the purse. ✨

It’s a thrifted beaded bag with little bits of gold, blue, cream, & brown woven throughout it. The kind of thing that most of us buy, tuck away in a closet, & save for a special occasion.

Not anymore.

Lately I’ve been trying to wear the things I love instead of waiting for the “right” time.

The gold buckles on the sandals, the gold lettering on the hat, the gold jewelry, the gold pants… somehow it all came together. 💛

And honestly, that’s become my favorite kind of outfit.

Not because it’s trendy.

Not because it’s what someone says I’m supposed to wear.

Just because I like it.

Somewhere along the way we started worrying about what’s in style, what’s out of style, what we’re “supposed” to wear, & whether someone else will approve.

Who the fuck cares? 😂

Wear the purse.

Wear the hat.

Mix the gold.

Buy the pants.

Friday’s fit is amazing. ❤️

The oversized barrel cargos? Completely outside my normal comfort zone… which is probably why I’m so obsessed with them. They’re ridiculously lightweight, crazy comfortable, & I can already tell they’ll be sticking around well beyond summer.

The red striped babydoll tank? Yeah… my current personality trait at this point. 😂 I’ve been reaching for red more & more lately & I’m not even pretending to fight it.

Added the leopard print Vans because why not? 🐆 Then topped everything off with my “Hold Your Horses” trucker hat from a local boutique. The earrings came from a farmers market vendor last year & the jewelry situation remains exactly what you’d expect: gold, silver, all of it at once. ✨

I was originally planning to wear a graphic tee with these cargos, but once I put this together, the graphic tee never stood a chance.

Also… shoutout to my husband for helping me pick the hat this morning. He intentionally matched it to the Vans, which honestly impressed me more than it probably should have. The man is learning. 🤠😂

A little mix of splurge & bargain today ✨🌿

The floral linen pants are an older 2025 Free People purchase that still feels worth every penny every time I pull them out. The twill tank? Target 🤍

This whole outfit just feels really light & airy. The kind of thing you throw on when you don’t want to feel restricted or overheated all day. I can already tell this tank is going to end up mixed into a bunch of different outfits over the next few months ☀️

I went back & forth on the topper situation this morning. The lightweight Target cardigan felt easy & casual… but the cropped Free People lace kimono definitely added more personality. I ended up going with the sweater today, but now I’m curious which one everyone else would’ve picked for future outfits 👀

The gladiators are practically archaeological at this point 😂 I’ve had them forever. That soft nude color gives that almost barefoot look & somehow still works after all these years 🤎

Also… first full day debuting the fresh hair color 💇🏼‍♀️ I’ve already gotten a few compliments which is nice… but part of me is still wondering if people are secretly thinking: “girl… what exactly did you do?” 😂

The dress itself is just free & easy… but honestly the real shocker here is the Amazon strapless bra I’m wearing underneath. WHY is it actually comfortable? No weird squeezing. No pulling it up every 14 minutes. No rage. I kinda forgot I even had it on which feels medically impossible for a strapless bra.

I was FULLY planning on doing that project myself until my husband started asking weird responsible adult questions like, “Do you have a tape measure?” Sir… what do you mean I need a tape measure? 😑😂

I literally just bought these brown barrel pants from Old Navy but I already have a feeling they’re going to get a lot of wear this summer. They’re ridiculously comfortable, hold their shape & don’t get sloppy after sitting all day… which immediately earns bonus points from me. 😂 I grabbed them in khaki too because once I find pants I actually like, I usually commit.

The little red top was a TJ Maxx find & honestly… old me would’ve NEVER picked red. I used to avoid it completely & lived in neutrals. Somewhere along the line this year I started liking it & now I keep reaching for it more & more. Weird. ❤️

Listen… these Walmart cropped jeans had absolutely NO business being this good for $28. Like excuse me??? WHAT?!? 🤯

First of all:
✔️ stretchy but they don’t stretch OUT
✔️ high waisted enough to hold things together a bit
✔️ normal human booty pockets (women know exactly what I mean here 😭)
✔️ perfect crop length for literally everything

Jelly flats? yes.
Flip flops? yep.
Cute sneakers? obviously.
Clogs, boots, heels? honestly… all of it works.

For reference:
I’m 5’8 & around 150–155ish these days & grabbed a size 10. Fit is PERFECT.

Since today is the last day before Memorial Day weekend, it only felt right to lean full red, white & blue teacher mode.

Monday morning.
4 day work week. Memorial Day weekend is on the horizon. Summer is basically right around the corner & I couldn’t be more excited!

Today’s fit was fully inspired by the possibility of a 90° classroom with no AC… which means cute & comfy without sweating my ass off 😵‍💫

These Old Navy crinkle balloon pants are genuinely one of my favorite purchases lately. Lightweight, breezy & now I want them in every color. I paired them with this older red flowy Gap tank that still comes out every summer because the detailing is just that good.

Also… sleeveless immediately tricks me into thinking I’m 10 degrees cooler mentally (the shock of a teacher showing off her shoulders…. I think we’ve finally gotten over that right?).

And then there’s the sandals. Can we just take a moment… to appreciate.

I’ve been harshly judging Crocs from a distance for YEARS (& you know the style I am referring to)… yet somehow these gladiator sandals are the absolute chef’s kiss 😭

I’m not proud of how comfortable they are.
But I will absolutely be living in these deep into Fall.

(Quick tip: they definitely run big — so be sure to size them down. I wear a 9 so I bought a size 8 & they fit perfectly!).

The colors are SO out of the ordinary for me — bright yellow, baby blue & burgundy — which honestly is exactly why I gravitated toward it in the first place.

The older I get… the more fascinating women become to me.

Botox.
Fillers.
Lasers.
Extensions.
Threads.
Weight loss injections.
Collagen powders.
20-step skincare routines.
Supplements lined up like a pharmacy.

And honestly?
I get it.

No woman wakes up excited to watch herself age.

Especially in a world that rewards women for looking 27 forever while simultaneously telling us to “age gracefully.”

That’s a mindfuck if we’re being honest.

Me?
At 56… I’m somewhere in the middle of all of it.

I strength train.
I walk.
I stretch.
I eat vegetables.
I prioritize protein.
I try to sleep.
I manage stress.
I get outside.

Basically all the boring things we were taught as kids… that actually matter.

And yes…
I still eat the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups too.

My skincare routine?
Sensitive skin face wash & Oil of Olay.
Been using it since I was a teenager.

Do I have wrinkles?
Of course I do.
I’m 56.

And if you’re younger & judging women for aging…
please understand:
if you’re lucky to stay alive long enough, it’s coming for you too.

The truth is…
I’m not trying to be 25 again.

I want to feel strong.
Clear headed.
Capable.
Healthy.
Mobile.
Alive inside my own body.

And honestly?
The very last thing I’m hanging onto is my hair color.

I’ve started thinking about growing it out naturally.
Not because I’m giving up.
Maybe because I’m tired of fighting myself.

I think aging gracefully isn’t about surrendering.

It’s about deciding what’s actually worth exhausting yourself over.

Most of us are probably somewhere in the middle.
Trying to take care of ourselves while also learning how to accept ourselves.

Anyway.

These Old Navy crinkle drawstring pants were never going to be a “buy one color & move on” situation 🍅😂

The second I put on the “tomato” pair (NOT red… tomato lol) I already knew I’d be going back for more. So yes… the gold & black may have followed me home too. Mind your business.

Today I paired them with my husband’s RedBull Racing Formula 1 tee that I immediately claimed as my own because it matched the pants better on me anyway 🏁

Also… who even is the guy on the back of this shirt? No clue. Couldn’t tell you. I just liked the colors.

And the white Vans? Honestly giving old-school white Keds nostalgia from high school except these feel like slippers & I’m not mad about it.

For reference:
I’m 5’8” & around 155 lbs wearing a medium in the pants. If you’re tall, they’ll fit more cropped. If you’re shorter, they’ll have that loose baggy fit ✨

Today’s fit:✨ plaid trousers (hand-me-down from my daughter)✨ a new Blondie tee from Old Navy✨ thrifted black Loft blazer✨ red kicks from TJ Maxx✨ pearl & gold jewelry that may or may not be a little extra

But honestly… if you own the jewelry, wear the damn jewelry. I mean, what are we saving it for? 😏

Today’s one of those random school field trip days where I get to escape the classroom chaos, stop living by the bell for a few hours, & pretend I’m a normal functioning adult out in society. 😂

The only thing stressing me out right now is figuring out how I’m going to hit my protein goal because we’re stopping at some fast food restaurant instead of packing lunches. Wish me luck making a decision there. I know… real world problems. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Honestly though, packing a lunch for a field trip is such a pain in the ass when you have to drag it around all day with students. Sometimes life just makes you pivot & hopefully that restaurant menu has at least a few decent choices for me. 😂

Tonight? Eye doctor appointment for my husband, maybe an ice cold beer 🍺 & whatever else this Friday decides to turn into.
