My secret gardening tip I actually stole from my house design. I pick the same tones for everything I plant in my landscaping and planters, that way everything looks cohesive. My planter ratio is: 1 trailing vine, 1 tall plant in the back, 2 same colored plants in varying shades. My front planters did so well last year all the way into late fall so I did the same thing: Kimberly fern, coleus, sweet potato vine and sun patients. All in pink berry tones and a lovely green with hints of lime. Ps. I meant to say one green in different shades.
