‼️As anticipated…Saks Global has formally filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection (this is different than Chapter 7, which would mean a full closure). The company plans to re-organize debt under new ownership, and as of now, the Brand will continue to operate. The company will be closing nine Saks OFF 5TH locations on Jan. 17th (listed below). It will however NOT be liquidating items at the stores like it did in New York City last month…items will be transferred out, but fixtures are for sale. Later this year, the company is expected to close some Saks and NM locations, and roughly half of the remaining OFF 5TH locations in the U.S., so you will likely see liquidation sales during this process…more to come on this front as details are still being decided. Jobs will likely be lost in this transition, but it is hopefully an opportunity for competitors to hire as well as work with smaller vendors that may no longer be supported under the Saks Global umbrella.
