One of the most unique and completely original features of our home is the staircases. With a three-story layout and two separate wings on the second floor, the stairwell splits half way up. All of the stairs and railings are original, worn beautifully with grooves, notches, and stories from 200 years of footsteps. The view from the third floor looking down is beautiful. We repainted the spindles and re-stained the steps, but left the railings untouched—just a gentle clean with steel wool and oil. I’ve truly never seen railings with curves and detail quite like these. I always imagine them being built with so much care and craftsmanship. Swipe to the end to see before shot. And I didn't even show the back stairwell in these shots! 🫣 HistoricHomeCharm stair stairwell history oldhome origionalstaircase origional oldhome oldarchitecture woodwork steps beforeandafter theforgehouse oldhouselove moulding details LTKHome LTKU
