It the past two weeks, I’ve had a lot of conversations about 2026. And I do mean A LOT. 😅

I’ve been asked about what my business goals look like for 2026.

I’ve been asked about who does my social media and/or how I want to level it up in the new year.

I’ve been asked by friends what my New Year’s Resolutions are casually in conversation.

They’re not nosy questions, these aren’t hard questions, or questions that should be difficult to answer.

Yet why do we feel a lump in our throat if we don’t have a fluffy answer? Lol 😅

New Year’s Resolutions are so hard. There’s all this build up surrounding them, and then this immense feeling of failure or self sabotage when they don’t stick. Guilt.

Me? I started a sour dough starter on January 1st because I thought “Why not? Something else to add to my already full plate…” she was ugly and deceased by January 2nd and I had to start again.

And it got me to thinking… WHHHHYYYYY do we put so much pressure on ourselves as a society to make a resolution each December into January, only to be disappointed in ourselves that we didn’t keep up with it by February.

“I’m going to work out and lose weight in 2026” - I probably won’t. I’ll keep eating healthy, but you likely won’t see me at the gym because the social anxiety of using a machine wrong hahaha

“I’m going to post more in 2026” - I mean I might? I might try? But I probably won’t… I’ll get busy in the summer and disappear for weeks at a time.

“I’m going to focus on SEO and driving sales” - I mean maybe… but most days I can’t operate my iPhone so…

Empty promises that I’ve made myself in the past, promises I hear small biz owners and creators making themselves. And then stressing themselves out by Feb/March

Instead I’m focusing on being intentional for 2026. I’ve selected 5 Pillars of things that I want to focus on in all portions of my life. Things that are small building blocks that could snowball into bigger and better things.

So I share this not to brag about my outlook, not to be bossy or showy, or act like I have a clue. I don’t. Running on vibes.

I share this because if Resolutions give you hives or the ick, it’s okay. You don’t have to participate. 😘🫶🏼

This time, let’s talk about all things AI Inspo.

It’s on the rise, and it has a lot of bridal makeup artists up in arms. I get it, I do. But also… I don’t.

I approach every single consultation and makeup application from a position of education + teachability.

THIS is how we help clients to spot heavy editing and AI generation.

THIS is how we make the industry stronger.

I love you, but if you’re using the fact that clients are happy with their makeup because they showed you an unrealistic AI image as a crutch, it’s time to reevaluate how you consult with clients, how you manage expectations, and how you teach them the differences between IRL and AI.

It’ll make you a stronger artist. It’ll make your clients understand your craft more thoroughly. And it will make every client that sits in your chair a raving fan of your work, and a bestie for life.

I promise. 🫶🏼

Oh - and PS - I love you. But if we are editing our images a ton for social media, we are also part of the problem. Exposure and black point are fair game because the lighting can be rough in bridal suites, but don’t be softening the skin, turning up the vignette, and playing with the facetune. That ALSO hurts the client’s understanding of what is and is not possible. 🫶🏼

The Biggest Compliment I’ve ever received? This season I was asked by multiple clients how old I am because they were convinced I was between 26-28.

Guess what…

I’m not. This girl turns 33 in a month and a half. 😅

I’ve also been asked who my injector is because of how full my lips are, and the minimal lines on my skin.

No injector. Just super healthy eating habits, doing my best to mitigate cortisol producing activities, and an insane amount of devotion to skincare. 😅

I will never stop sharing these pics of Melissa from her wedding - because that glam… she deserves a permanent place on the feed. 😏

But honestly - I was just scrolling the ‘gram, as one does when procrastinating, and I saw a post about “Instagram Face.”

I also remembered reading something in a bridal group about ensuring you don’t become a “paint by number” artist, where every client gets the same glam.

Wedding Day for Tarin 💗

Such a calm, kind, and sweet group of gals yesterday for Tarin + Tom’s wedding day! Not only was I blessed to do makeup, but also hair!

For Tarin’s look, we went more blushy, less bronzy. And I think that was PERFECT. Being a fair girlie from the Midwest, we don’t always have that “I just got back from the beach” glow by mid-October. And after Tarin mentioned feeling like the foundation oxidized a bit at her trial, I knew we should dial back the peaches and browns, and opt for something more flushed.

I think she looked stunning before and after, and I’m so grateful to have been part of the morning!

Best Kept MUA Secret…? 😉

Scrape your favorite lipstick onto a palette and use that little cutie as a cream blush. The result? The most PERFECT under painted flush.

Seriously. This is becoming my favorite thing ever.

And I can’t take credit for this trick, my cute little grandma never wore much makeup when I was growing up, just a little lipstick and then she’d blend the extra out with her fingers on her cheeks as some “Rouge.”

Now here I am, years later, still using this trick.

It’s truly THE BEST.
