The skincare routine that’s keeping my 46-year-old skin glowing this summer ☀️✨

Summer is actually when I scale back my skincare routine the most—less is more for me this time of year. I reduce the number of products and step back from stronger actives because ingredients like retinol, exfoliating acids, and certain treatments can make skin more photosensitive. That increased sensitivity, when combined with sun exposure, can lead to more irritation and even long-term damage if sunscreen isn’t used consistently.

That’s why I keep things simple and focused on protection and hydration. I use my sunscreen religiously (non-negotiable), because no matter how good your skincare is, it won’t matter if your skin isn’t protected daily from UV exposure.

A few other things I’ve learned about summer skin:
• Heat and humidity can already stress the skin barrier, so overloading products can cause congestion or irritation
• Your skin may naturally produce more oil, so heavier routines often feel like too much
• Consistency with sunscreen matters more than adding extra steps
• Hydrating, antioxidant-rich formulas tend to work better than strong corrective treatments during peak sun months

That’s why I’ve been loving this simple Superfood routine from @youthtothepeople —it feels light, effective, and supportive without overwhelming my skin. I finish with Youthscreen sunscreen, which layers beautifully and keeps my skin protected all day.
