The most flattering shorts for women over 50 aren't about a longer inseam or hiding your legs — they're about cut, proportion, and a few tricks that help our legs look better! At 55, these are the tips I go by:

1. High-waisted and fitted at the waist. A defined waist elongates the legs and creates instant shape.

2. Leg room matters. A wider leg opening is so much more flattering than a tight cut that cuts you off at the thigh.

3. An A-line cut on an angle. Slightly flared at the hem--it works whether you prefer a shorter inseam or a longer cut.

4. A low heel instead of a flat. Even a small wedge, mule, or kitten heel sandal elongates the leg. Game changer for summer outfits over 50.

5. Body makeup. This category has come a long way — modern formulas blur, even out tone, and don't transfer.

6. Illuminating body oil. Not greasy, not glittery — just a soft glow that catches the light and makes your skin look healthy and lit-from-within.

These work for every inseam and every body type. Shorts season is for all of us — you just have to find the right pair.

We are the generation that laid out on foil reflectors, covered in baby oil mixed with iodine, with Sun-In in our hair. Now? Welcome to peri and menopause skin. Dry, flaky, loss of glow. Our skincare from 5 years ago isn't doing the trick anymore.

Here's what I've learned at 55: skincare for women over 50 is a completely different game than what worked in our 30s and 40s. I have always had oily skin. But over the past few years it has become so dry. I was waking up every morning with peeling skin. Once I started using estrogen cream on my face, dare I say that I haven't peeled once. My skin is actually hydrated again.
Estrogen cream, retinol, and a good barrier cream are what is working for me now. Sadly the Sea Breeze and Noxzema days are over 😂
