It was this time last year that I was heading to the mountains with Mr. WTW and we were setting goals for the months ahead. Little did I know how different my life would look in a years time. I know this because I pulled up my (digital) journal that I’ve been keeping for years. Do you keep one too?

Some days have more extensive writings, others just snippets of thoughts. Doing this has helped me sort through ideas and come back to check on my goals. Other times it’s just nice to look back on trips with the happiest memories.

Paris is one of those places I have written about and each trip I take makes me fall more in love with the city. Each trip I’ve picked up little mementoes, one I wear on a necklace almost daily. What do you like to bring home from trips as a memento?

On my last solo night in Paris I wanted to do something I’d never forget. So I booked a ticket for a small concert held at Église Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It’s considered the oldest church in Paris and just one street over from the famed Cafe de Flore. Now Vivaldi and Schubert meet to bring you a night of magic under the cobalt vaulted ceilings.

I chose to walk back to my hotel that night and enjoyed every minute of it. This is the thing about Paris. Magic is around every corner and it’s one of the best cities to explore. The city is beautiful by day and at night it twinkles all around.

One of the best tips I can give for any traveler is to book one thing special like this. I love finding a ballet, opera or concert but also venture to the skies and take helicopter rides. It doesn’t have to be expensive, but these little planned outings become core memories that are unforgettable. Do you have anything special you like to plan on trips? I’d love to hear about it!
