Nearly eight years separates me and my sister in age, and those years felt massive when I was younger. Though as we got older the years shortened and our sisterhood became a deep friendship. She’s the one I look to for advice and wisdom. A level head with the ability to oversee a situation and logically assess. On top of that, she’s become a travel partner. We both love travel, but even more so love learning. So when we traveled to Charleston a few months back we went to every historical home, museum, and tour we could fit into the trip. While there I learned about a book called The Indigo Girl and picked it up. It’s based on a girl who is left to take care of the family’s holdings in South Carolina at a time when women were not respected in doing so. The real life counterpart to the book, Eliza Lucas, brought indigo to the area and in turn great wealth. Between memories of my Great Aunt and this story of a young woman defying the odds, I’m so grateful for the women who have come before me. What is an invention or scientific discovery made by a woman that you are grateful for? LTKGiftGuide LTKSeasonal LTKSale
