You might find this hard to believe, but I was extremely shy when I was younger. So the first time I ate at a communal table in a restaurant I was thrown off. Honestly, it took me a while to get used to this concept. I couldn’t tell you exactly when this feeling changed, but it was around the time I saw the movie “About A Boy”. It begins with the quote “No man is an island” and the rest of the movie is spent showing just how lonely life would be as an island. We are meant to be social and I’ve come to love and appreciate the communal aspects of life. Last night I asked for your help in deciding on a dress to wear as a wedding guest. I’m still wading through a sea of messages, and the most beautiful part of it all has been the conversations that sparked from this. One particular message came from Sweden and the ensuing conversation really was so lovely and made my day. It’s been on my mind since that we have an opportunity and luxury to talk to people all around the world. I wonder how much of this novelty will be lost on future generations and what pieces of convenience I take for granted daily. Pop quiz: but what convenience are you most thankful for today? Hint: there are no wrong answers. LTKxMadewell LTKGiftGuide LTKBeauty
