The first application I sent off for college left me on a waitlist. I was frantic and worried thinking that I wasn’t ever going to be able to go off to school and I’d be stuck in my hometown forever. That wasn’t the case but it felt that way in the moment. A few days later I got accepted to an entirely different school that ended up being one of the best choices for me. I met Shelly there. She remains one of my most cherished and best friends who consistently pursues our friendship. I don’t deserve her, but I certainly want to be more like her. On the same day I met Shelly, I was also introduced to the pottery wheel. That studio became the happiest place for me in college, even though my major was in photography. If you’ve never taken a ceramics class- try it! I found that ceramics people are passionate about clay and they want you to love it as well. It becomes infectious and you’ll want to pass on the love to others once you try it. Funny enough, I found out I got off the waitlist after I had already accepted a spot in the Fine Arts department at the other school. Perhaps I would’ve made great friendships there and been introduced to other things, but I’ll always be grateful for that waitlist and the path it took me. I couldn’t have planned it any better. Take this as a reminder that our plans sometimes don’t go according to plan, but there can be people, places, things that are even better than what you could’ve imagined. Don’t be discouraged, wherever you’re at right now. LTKU LTKSeasonal LTKSale
