I genuinely wear black trousers at least once a week and I think they’re one of the hardest working pieces in my wardrobe all year round. They’re one of those staples that always make an outfit feel a little bit more polished, whether I’m dressing casually, heading into the office or putting together an evening look.

I think people sometimes associate darker colours with autumn/winter dressing, but black can look SO chic in spring when styled with lighter tones, softer fabrics and warmer accessories. Cream, white, tan, butter yellow and soft grey all work beautifully with black and instantly make it feel more spring appropriate.

A few styling things I always keep in mind:

1. A wider leg silhouette instantly feels more elevated and fashion forward

🤍 Tuck it loosely — never fully in, never fully out. The front-tuck creates shape without effort.
🤍 Layer it as a base, not a main event. Under a blazer, cropped jacket, cardigan, or trench — it softens tailoring and elevates casual.
🤍 Trust the contrast. A plain white tee against a rich colour (camel, chocolate, red, navy) instantly looks more expensive.
