Belt info:

If a dress has a cinched waist, an added belt can still work if you are trying to do the following:

* Adding contrast or a pop of color.
* Updating the style of a simple dress.
* Coordinating with your shoes or bag.
* Creating more definition if the built-in cinching is subtle rather than pronounced.

Belt size:
Here are some general guidelines:
* ¼–½ inch (0.6–1.3 cm): Very delicate and elegant. This works especially well with dresses that have spaghetti straps or very thin straps.
* ½–1 inch (1.3–2.5 cm): The sweet spot for most petites. It defines the waist without overwhelming your frame.
* Over 1½ inches (3.8 cm): Usually best avoided with a small, delicate dress unless you're intentionally making the belt the focal point. On a petite frame, a wide belt can visually shorten the torso and compete with the dress.
