7. Dear Debbie by Freida McFadden :: 4.75/5⭐️ Debbie is an advice columnist whose advice isn’t always meant for public consumption. She sees a problem, and she must fix it… as she sees fit. I loved the dark banter of this book, it made me giggle more than once! Definitely a crazy read, and one of Freida’s better works IMO! That twist at the end though!!! Absolutely had me gasping! I listened to this one and I feel like the female narrator was spot on! Honestly, sometimes excellent banter really makes the book!

13. Heartless by Elsie Silver :: 4.75/5⭐️ YESSSSSS!! Exactly the book I needed!!! This funny, easy to listen to romance was just perfection! Willa is visiting her best friend in her small town and when she is getting her morning coffee, she bumps into a handsome stranger. She’ll obviously never see him again…. Except, turns out he’s her new boss! Cade Eaten needs someone to help him on his farm, as a single dad, it’s hard juggling his adorable 5 year old son, while working and tending to the farm, so when Willa shows up willing to Nanny, it’s a win win! Except there’s a lot more that goes into it… What’s really going on between Willa and Cade?? I took off some points because of a plot point in the book that I didn’t like, which they did handle very well! I absolutely can not wait to finish the series!

12. Red Rising by Pierce Brown :: 3.75/5⭐️ Darrow is from the Red class, the lowest of the color caste of the future on Mars. He and his fellow reds believe that are working to make the surface of Mars livable for future generations, but what he finds out is that the surface of Mars has been livable and thriving for a long time. When his wife sacrifices herself to wake people up, Darrow follows her lead and tries to infiltrate the institute. He finds himself competing against Golds, the ruling caste. Contrary to many reviewers, I actually liked the beginning 35% of the book better than the last part. It was very similar to hunger games and when they first got into that part of the book, I was annoyed that another book took this route. So if you love the hunger games storyline you’ll love this book!

Is anyone listening by Barbara Freethy :: 4.25/5⭐️ Cassidy and her friends have a true crime podcast which has been gaining popularity, especially since all of them lost their jobs and are now podcasting full time. In order to take the podcast to a new level, the friends decide to take filming on the road. Their first stop is to the Stonecross inn, a bed and breakfast where women go to disappear, it seems. But when things start happening, is it really a coincidence? Plus Cassidy is hiding a secret that could change her family dynamic. I HATED the narrator of this book, especially in the beginning, I did get used to it as the book went on, but I would suggest reading this one instead of listening. Great story, with an unexpected ending!

10. It’s Not Her by Mary Kubica :: 4.75/5⭐️ phew!! If you loved local woman missing by the same author, you will love this book! Courtney is on vacation with her family and her sisters family. One morning she finds her sister and brother in law murdered in their cabin with her 17 year old niece missing. The rest of the book is trying to find out who did it. Told from dual timelines from multiple characters we are left guessing until the VERY end! I lovedddd the twists. Such a good book!

9. Magnolia Parks :: 4/5⭐️ magnolia parks has always been in love with BJ Ballentine. They were meant to be But when magnolia learns that BJ cheated on her, they break up. But they’re meant to be together! For years they lust over each other, but can they actually be together and make it work..? This was very much like a gossip column. The story line was good, but supposedly this is the worst book in the series, so we shall see! I thought it was a little too long and repetitive, but good “twist” at the end!

We’re All Guilty Here :: 4.5/5⭐️ 2 teenage girls go missing in a small town, and police officer Emmy Clifton, and her chief of police father must find them because one of the girls is her best friends step daughter. But the town is hiding one huge secret. Someone is arrested and sent to prison for the murders. But after 12 years he is released and now another girl is taken. And Emmy must help find this new victim. This book is very graphic and hard to read (listen to) at some points. In true Karin Slaughter fashion, this is a twisty, graphic book, I even teared up at some points. The twist at the end had my jaw on the floor!!

Remain by M Night Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks :: 3.75/5⭐️ Tate Donovan is designing his best friends summer home on Cape Cod and stays at a historic bed and breakfast where he meets Wren, who will change his life. Tate’s sister recently passed away and in doing so left Tate with no one. She gave him one last gift before she died and that gift made him see and feel things he’s never felt before. Tate and wren form an immediate connection and wind up helping each other in the process. However, Wren is going through some difficult things and Tate must find out the truth to help her. M Night is known for his twists, but I didn’t really feel like this was very twisty and I wasnt really surprised by the ending. It was obvious to me which author wrote which part of the book though. Some of the parts were a little scary and I feel like the audio version brings that out more because you can hear how the author intended it to be read. Interesting collab, but it was just ehh to me.

This secluded island is home to the world’s largest seed bank. Rowan has her own secrets as to why she is on the island, but can she really trust the Salt family? She’s not sure after she finds their communication tampered with and random graves dug.. the end of this book was thrilling, twisty, and intense! Was it as amazing as it was hyped up to be, not to me, but it was still a great book!!

4. Woman Down by Colleen Hoover :: 3.25/5⭐️. Petra Rose is an author with writers block, after her very controversial film adaptation. She goes to her usual secluded cabin to sit alone and write. One of her first nights there, she’s woken up in the early morning hours by flashing lights and a detective at her door. What happens next shapes basically everything! Is this my favorite CoHo book? Not by a long shot. The chapters were long, I felt that there was way too much inner dialogue/detail in the first like 75% of the book, and I didn’t really like first 75% the story itself. I do like CoHos style of writing tho. And the ending did make up for it. But again, was it my favorite ending? No. But that’s what made it a thriller. Wouldn’t really recommend TBH.

3. Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah :: 5/5⭐️. The EMOTION OMG. What an amazing devastating story of Leningrad before and during World War II. Meredith and Nina are sisters and when their father dies, it is his wish that the girls hear the rest of the fairy tale their mother tells them. It’s always been really difficult to get to know their mother. So she reluctantly tells the fairy tale story of Leningrad. But can a simple story make the girls closer? I went into this book blind as a recommendation from booktok thinking this book wasn’t as sad as some of Kristin Hannah’s other books. The tears I wept over the last like half hour of this book will disagree lol. Even telling my husband about it later in the day made me cry all over again!! The audio narration was amazing! It kept my interest the entire time, and I think this story will stick with me for a LONG time. HIGHLY recommend. This has been my first Kristin Hannah book, and honestly will probably be my last because they’re sooooo saddddd.

1. The widow’s husbands secret lie by Freida McFadden :: 4.5/5⭐️ Alice’s husband is dead. She knows this, but why does she keep seeing him everywhere!? LOL. This book was satire on steroids. Some parts of it were stupid, but that was the point. Everything was exaggerated and I LOLed a bunch of times. Normally I have a love/hate relationship w Freida books, but I loved this one! Def recommend if you like Frieda McFadden and thriller plots.

Maybe if I wasn’t doing things while I was listening to this book it would have landed more of an emotional punch, but it just didn’t seem as worth the hype to me? For sure well written and such a great love story. If you loved My Friends you would LOVE this!

47. Yours for the season by Uzma Jalaluddin 4.5/5⭐️ Sameera is a lawyer whose job is on the line. When her mom hosts a party and the very handsome Tom Cooke is the caterer, who very quickly learns how to make samosas like her mom makes them, the two can feel the chemistry immediately. Sameeras family does not believe that she and Tom aren’t together so they plan to fake date just to make everyone get off their backs. Well, Sameeras mom takes it a little too far and her whole family winds up with Toms whole family in Alaska at his house for Christmas. I actually really liked this book! It was sweet, zero spice, and just an all around good read for the holidays.

46. The Last Father Daughter Dance by Lisa Windgate :: 4/5⭐️. Kalista is in a rush to get home. Her dad’s heart transplant surgery got postponed and now the future is more uncertain. When her dad insists they spend time at their beloved cabin in the middle of nowhere, reluctantly Kal agrees and off they go to make all 4 seasons happen in one month. This book was very sweet, but I really wish there was one more chapter just wrapping everything up. I felt like just as my eyes were getting a little misty, it just ended.!

The Tenant by Freida McFadden 3.25/5⭐️. Krista and Blake own a brownstone in Manhattan and when Blake loses his job over a misunderstanding, they lose their ability to make their mortgage payments. Krista suggests they take in a tenant to help pay the rent. What Blake doesn’t realize is that this tenant will change the game for everyone. Honestly I hated the first 40% of the book and almost DNFed it a few times because I hated the story line. But I pushed through because of the hype surrounding it. Did it live up to the hype? No. Would it be amazing if you’re new to the thriller world? Absolutely. So read on new reader, read on!

43. The intruder by Freida McFadden :: 4/5⭐️ Casey has been living in a cabin in the woods by choice after her life changed a few months prior. A storm is on the way and her roof can barely hold on a regular day, but she decides to stay in the house and ride out the storm. It’s not until she she’s a light in her shed out back that she braves the weather to find out who this intruder is. In true Frieda fashion, the end of this book was so twisty and I was here for it!! I have a love hate relationship with this author. The beginning of the story seemed very juvenile and I did not like the writing style. Then the middle sucked me in and the ending had me gasping a couple of times. If you’re new the thriller genre you’ll LOVE this one!

42. No one can know by Kate Alice Marshall :: 4.25/5⭐️ Emma, Juliette, and Daphne are sleeping in their tree house for the night only to wake up to the news that their parents are dead. Shocking news right? Except someone knows the whole story, and someone took the fall for it. Fast forward, Emma is married and she and her husband have fallen on hard times, it seems the only think they can do is move back to the house where Emma’s parents died all those years ago. But is she actually welcomed back, after all, the whole town thinks she’s the murderer. I thought this book was really good! Got a little twisty at the end, and ya know I love a twisty story!

41. The night we lost him by Laura Dave :: 3.75/5⭐️ this book takes place in Brooklyn and I always love hearing about some neighborhoods that I know or used to know well in books! Nora’s dad dies suddenly at his home in California, the police rule it an accident but Nora’s half brother doesn’t think this is accurate. So the two travel to California and what they uncover is a whole history they didn’t know anything about. While this book was categorized as a thriller, I wouldn’t really say it was, seemed more of a family drama to me, and slow paced, detailed family drama.

40. My Friends by Fredrik Bachman :: 5/5⭐️ Louisa just lost her best friend Fish, and she REALLY wants to see a painting that she has been obsessed with. But the painting is in a fancy gallery with snobby rich people who think it’s just a painting of the sea, but Louisa knows it’s so much more than that. I guess Louisa gets too close to the painting and the snobby rich people don’t like that. So she is chased out of the gallery and finds herself colliding w a homeless person in an alleyway. This chance encounter sets her life on a whole new trajectory. I fully expected to be sobbing at multiple points in this book, but it was actually amazing, and I never actually cried lol. It’s one of those heartbreakingly beautiful books that just makes you want to hug all of the characters and tell them it’ll all be ok. Didn’t like the fact that they kept calling a 39 year old character old and elderly though🤣.
