my younger self had a hard time believing that there wasn’t a job title, grade, checkbox, status, etc that would ever make me feel like I was enough. I thrived on academic validation my whole life and had a crappy relationship with money when I was younger which led to me choosing a “safe” career that looked respectable and impressive to other people. I placed all my worth and validation in my grades when I was younger & it manifested into career validation as an adult.

I didn’t realize that without all of these things, I was already enough. I was looking to be filled by things that were never meant to & never would contribute to my worth as a human - not believing that I was already whole.

after realizing I was totally depressed and in the wrong career, going to therapy/unpacking things/redefining what MY values are, & years (!!!) of building the courage to make a change & take a risk after learning all of this…. I’m finally making a decision that asks myself what makes the most sense for me rather than thinking first about how others will perceive me.

I spent nearly three years trying to convince myself that i didn’t hate my job & forcing myself to view work as “just a paycheck” (spoiler alert: some personalities require a different approach for their relationship with work - e.g., needing to feel fulfillment or be passionate about what they’re spending 40+ hours a week doing - and that’s OKAY!!!)

I’m so excited for this next chapter & so proud of myself for doing the hard & scary thing despite every voice in my head telling me I’d be a failure every time I wanted to make the change. nothing grows in comfort zones. life’s too short to choose to stay miserable for a higher paycheck or job title.

to whoever needs to hear it: you’re enough, you always have been 🫶🏼
