My thoughts on the new @rhode Highlight Milk.

This is a slightly tinted, highlighting version of the original Glazing Milk… which if you know me, you’ll know that I LOVE!

These didn’t arrive in time for my holiday so I’ve been testing them out and working out how I prefer to use them this last week or so…

And these are my thoughts.

First up, application - this can get messy, pouring it into your hands like you would the original glazing milk. Or pouring onto the skin, just left my hands covered in product. Eww.

Secondly, the amount of product - I also felt, the way it was applied determined how much product was going on the skin. As too much product (especially on top of existing skincare and then makeup applied on top) resulted in some pilling of product by the end of the day…

Thirdly, the tint - like I explained in the video I had preconceived notions that the shades would be similar to the L’Oréal Glotion products but I would say the Highlight Milks are a lot more subtle and the highlight is a lot less metallic. In a good way! These I would say for me are more wearable on their own. I like the Glotion but I wear it under or mixed with makeup to tone down the tin-man effect.

These milks are definitely less pigmented than I expected, there’s really not a lot of shade difference between 02 and 03 except a slight warmth to 03. And the glow is more glossy than a metallic gleam. ✨

When I posted to my stories that these had arrived, there had been some mixed thoughts from those of you that had tried them… so hopefully some of these tips on application might help…

Holiday skincare… this is what I packed for 10 days in the sun 🌞 and sea 🌊

First off… yes I have 3 skincare routines… morning when I wake up, evening when I come in from the sun and get ready to go out. And bedtime when I obviously go to bed…

I keep things simple and consistent (still using products here that I use at home.) And I tried where possible to just grab minis or travel sizes. As I HATE overpacking full sized products and there’s some things your just shouldn’t decant…

Sunset was around 8.30pm here so I didn’t include an SPF in my evening routine. If sunset was later or we were going out earlier then yes I would still apply SPF.

There’s incidentals like the Dermalogica Microfoliant which I only used a couple of times when I felt my skin was getting congested from the constant application of SPF all day everyday… but always handy to have something like that to hand for if/when you need it. And some masks too for helping me cool down after a long day in the heat!

Face tan…

I actually don’t use it anymore for reasons explained here. But so many of you ask me for good options. So these are the ones I use and have done for years! They just wash off at night 😶‍🌫️

@vitaliberata Everyday Blur Drops - these are insanely pigmented!!! Also water resistant so you can wear these and not worry about getting splashed with water (or sweating) whilst on holiday… ☀️

@whind Marrakech Sun Instant Glow Tinting Water - if you want something that gives that instant glow and warmth to the skin that isn’t orange or olive toned then these are it. Just a warm caramel tone that looks super natural! 🤎

@byterryofficial Tea To Tan - Sooooooo easy to use! And the fact it’s a spray I find helps to make these super customisable, use as little or much as you desire! To give skin a boost of warmth. I find they have a reddish undertone that looks super natural even on my pale skin. So lightweight so doesn’t feel like ANOTHER layer of product. And transfer proof ✨
