Growing up, my dad used to say, “life’s not a fashion show!” — usually while hustling me and my sisters out the door. He wanted us to focus on school, sports, and working hard. But I’ve always loved clothes. Even though I didn’t have a lot, I felt the difference when I wore something I loved — it changed my mood. That feeling eventually led me to a dream job at J.Crew and Madewell HQ for ten years.

Fast forward to the chaos of pandemic life, working from home, and two little ones… I slowly slipped into wearing the same worn-out gym clothes all day. Not cute matching sets — I’m talking the actual sweaty workout clothes from that morning. 🫠 I told myself I didn’t have time for anything more — not a shower, not jeans, not makeup.

Then two years, after reading Atomic Habits, I made one small change: I decided to start getting dressed again. And wow — I didn’t expect what a difference it would make.

I’ve realized now — my dad was right. It’s not about a fashion show. It’s about showing up for myself. Choosing an outfit, putting it on, and instantly feeling a shift. More focus. More confidence. More energy — even if I’m not leaving the house.

Getting dressed has become one of the simplest ways I care for myself. Some days it’s subtle — a gentle reminder to be present. Other days, it completely turns things around.

This journey isn’t about dressing for others. It’s about feeling like the best version of you. And if you’ve ever felt like you lost a bit of yourself somewhere along the way — same. But small habits add up, and this one has been powerful for me.

Catching up on sharing some outfits!!

Adding in texture and fun prints are always a good way to create a fun outfit - especially during a heat wave! I love pairing jean shorts (these are $28 and just restocked today) with a more feminine blouse or fun textured top so my outfit says light and cool without feeling boring. Finished with my most comfortable sandals and go to summer bag.

simple always wins ☕️ a great tank and straight leg jeans is something I always feel good in. The key to simplifying getting dressed is finding easy outfit formulas and sticking to them!

This tank was one I was wearing in one of my first ever ootd videos two years ago and after testing many others it’s still the one I keep coming back to because it’s just that good!! Also looks great with a midi skirt, linen shorts, thrown over a suit at the beach and just like this for an easy everyday outfit. Jeans are a year round staple that wore in every season and jellies are under $50 but look, fit and feel like the $1600 pair they are mirrored after.
