my favorite skincare! retinol, sunscreen, vitamin c, acids

Y’all finalllyyy!!! There’s no way some of us can get to @shanidarden’s spa in Beverly Hills for her Signature Facial once a month (let’s be real- I live in Ohio 🫠) but she brought home the next best thing for us!!!

This is the at-home version of the peel I had in her spa, and I absolutely had to pause for a moment of real gratitude that we get to do this whenever we want that glow 🙌🏾 Let’s gooo!!!! It’s two parts and comes with 8 treatments that you can do 1-2 times a month. Let me tell you- it’s a 10/10! 🙌🏾 See more in my stories! #ShaniDardenPartner @sephora

Bakuchiol is a plant based retinol alternative that gives many of the benefits of retinol without sensitivity or irritation. Perfect for those who

-are pregnant/nursing
-cannot tolerate retinols for any reason
-love their retinol at night but would like a boost during the day (since we shouldn’t do retinol during the day)

This one has mineral sunscren combined with bakuchiol.
Use snail mucin essence after cleansing and before serums. Press into skin for a smoother brighter less wrinkled and more firm skin!
Products I love from Paula’s Choice!

Are you skin cycling? On your recovery nights AND daytime, use hydrating products to help keep your moisture barrier intact. Boost with a peptide, too! I partnered with @Drunkelephant and made a skincare smoothie!

I used Protini Polypeptide Cream and B-Hydra Intensive Serum for the days you need extra hydration. Added D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Drops for an antioxidant boost (this is also fantastic to mix with your products if you can’t tolerate straight vitamin c for daytime!) Everything’s at @sephora- more details in stories and my LTK!

Night skincare - cleanser, retinol, moisturizer

My favorite retinols. Shani Darden is 20% off through 3/23 on Shani Darden.com. Always start with one night per week and increase as your skin tolerates, followed by a moisturizer. If your skin needs it, you may layer hyaluronic acid or face oil on before retinol for an additional buffer.

I’m 46 - before you say black don’t crack, here are three things everyone should be using to make skin look better, longer!

This is how I layer skincare at NIGHT, MWF.
There are many opinions on how to layer skincare. You’ll find that even estheticians and derms don’t all agree! I say that if something is working for you, keep going!

This regimen is for any age or commitment level and can be done daily. See below or annamaegroves.com for a simplified and advanced version!

For beginners/simplicity
1. CLEANSER. (or double cleanse for makeup removal and better product absorption- first using an oil based cleanser, then a foaming or gel cleanser.
2. RETINOL. Choose your favorite - start slow if it’s your first time- a couple nights a week then work up to nightly if desired. You’re never too young or old for retinol. Helps breakouts, texture, evening skin, wrinkles, fine lines, collagen & elastin.
3. MOISTURIZER. Hydrate skin to protect the skin’s barrier.
4. LIP BALM

Advanced:
1. CLEANSE (Double cleanse if desired see above) Toner if you’d like!

2. SERUM. *Optional. Choose one that gives benefits that retinol does not like Niacinamide or peptides.
3. RETINOL. See above.
4. HYALURONIC ACID. *optional. Use after retinol, or before to “sandwich” it for less irritation/hydration
5. OIL. *optional. gives an extra shot of moisture if needed. Believe it or not, even oily skin can use certain oils to balance oil production.
6. EYE CREAM. *optional. Can add benefits like tightening, extra hydration, or circulation/brightening benefits. I usually just use what I do on my face.
7. MOISTURIZER. Seal everything in!
8. LIP BALM

Sourced everything in stories or link in bio! Oh and the wrist bands keep dirty water from rolling down to your elbows and all over the counter!

#LTKbeauty
1. Double cleanse with cleansing oil or balm followed by foaming cleanser.
2. Retinol. I’ve used both of theee and loved them! Shani Darden has a few more benefits but both are excellent.
3. Moisturizer is optional. La Mer is ridiculously expensive but it’s what works for my eczema. Kiehls is incredibly hydrating but light. It feels a Amazing!
Don’t overspend and instead think about the things you replenish often! Here’s what I’m stocking up on. #Sephoraholidaysavings see more on annamaegroves.com. Must be an insider, VIB, or rouge to participate. Code: YAYHOLIDAY #LTKcompetition #competition

Y’all I’m boring. Same recs as usual. It took me a long time to find sunscreen that doesn’t break me out. These two don’t. I like them because in the warmer months I can go without a moisturizer because they’re hydrating. ELTAMD Sunscreen is for “all over” (body) but it’s giant and can be used for the face which saves me $$$. (No -it doesn’t break me out) the glow screen gives a glow :)
Save money on sunscreen and buy the spf 30 body of elta MD!

This is my most recent daytime skincare product routine
Cleanse: Farmacy whipped greens
Ordinary Niacinamide
Ordinary caffeine
La Mer on my eyes and neck
Sunscreen all over
MY EXTREME MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE

“Extreme” because it takes 20 minutes 😂 But also not, because I just throw on a podcast, drink my coffee and enjoy the pampering process!

It’s not for everyone, and not a necessity, but absolutely beneficial!

1. SOUND WAVE (VIBRATION) THERAPY
Firms, tightens, smooths by stimulating circulation and increasing oxygen. This reaches deep beneath the surface of the skin, helping to smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

2. MICROCURRENT
Tones, tightens, lifts facial muscles by contracting muscles with low level current. This uses electric current to tighten and train the muscles, therefore bringing skin with it.

3. SERUMS I put my face serum (Vitamin c or Niacinamide) on right before icing, which pulls product in as blood vessels constrict.

4. ICING
Gives an instant glow, it is anti inflammatory (which helps with fine lines!), reduces puffiness, is anti acne (calms and prevents breakouts!), increases blood flow, and helps with product penetration.

5. MOISTURIZER (a couple drops of facial oil and eye cream right before moisturizer if I think my skin needs it! I usually skip oils and sometimes moisturizer during the summer- sunscreen can suffice- go with how YOUR skin FEELS in the moment!)

6. SUNSCREEN ALL OVER! No matter the weather.
TIP: REMEMBER- face, neck, chest, back of neck and ears- behind them, too! All products linked on L T K
