What do you do when you don’t know what to do? I’m sure you’ve been in BIG DECISION or BIG TRANSITION or BIG PAIN seasons- and there are moments you have to face the BIG right on… like in a counseling appointment or in a meeting or as the moving truck is being loaded. But what about the rest of the moments? What about the in-between hours when nothing can be decided, only felt- what do you do then? I have a few ideas that have helped me. 1. Lean into your hobbies. Give me a Sabbath Saturday with a puzzle and an audiobook and my mind will be rested and healed. (I LOVED The Road To Tender Hearts! Recommend.) 2. Get around a table with your people, laugh and cry and talk about the dumb and the important. Candy salad optional, but not really. You need candy salad. 3. Hold your practices. I’m living my best life making London Fogs every morning before I go sit and read and pray. When I don’t know what to do, when I’m in-between and worried or hurting or scared or overwhelmed, I can sit with the One who holds it all. 4. Eat the cereal you love. And if pop tarts are on sale? Yeah duh. 5. Go. Get out. Be where you love with people you love, especially kids. Keep going. The in-between hours of the BIG seasons are what make or break you, I think. How you keep your mind and heart healthy in the middle of the BIG is who you are in the BIG moments. Also 500 piece puzzles are the perfect size. You’re welcome. 😂 Teach me more habits/ideas/opportunities that you lean on when you don’t know what to do, when there is nothing to do, when you’re in the in-between moments of the BIG seasons?
