A and I are making the most of my last few days in Chicago. Last night we went for the longest walk! We did about 5 miles by the lake and Observatory. I don’t even remember the last time I walked that far. We used to walk along the same path all the time but haven’t since I moved to Lakeview a couple years ago. It’s the most amazing view of the city- especially in the evening. 🌃 Tonight we’re going to my favorite fancy pizza 🍕 place in the city- Stella Barra! It’s so good and they have the best gluten free crust. I’ve been looking forward to it all week 🤗 Hope y’all are all having a great week so far! Guys I’m converted! I’m officially obsessed with skiing. This weekend was my first time skiing in Colorado and I loved every second of it! I will be out there way more often the rest of the season. I’m so excited to have a new winter activity because this is the whole reason I moved here- to be able to be active and outdoors all year round 🤗☀️

I’m so excited for skiing! I’m going for my first day on Saturday and it’s going to be a good one. I went shopping for snow pants this week and it was an experience. It seems that most snow pants that I found were not cut for my body type but I did find a great pair at @rei! Shopping was a good reminder that clothes are meant to fit our bodies, not the other way around.

I started a new workout program yesterday! I heard about it on the @thatssoretrograde podcast and was intrigued. It’s called p.volve.
@pvolve is an online streamed workout program that focuses on movements that will help tone to your natural body shape. The moves are based on physical therapy principals meaning it’s about injury prevention which I am all about.

I did the first workout in my customized plan on Sunday and loved it! It really did remind me a lot of the exercises and worked the muscles groups in focused on in PT. I’ve been overdoing it with the running lately and this is the perfect opportunity to change it up.

Just a girl and her pumpkin! Had such a fun day wandering around a couple pumpkin patches. I bought a mini spaghetti squash and a mini buttercup squash. Have y’all ever heard of a buttercup squash? It’s supposed to be sweet, smooth, and creamy with no strings. I’m so excited to try it! I bought a mini single serving sized squash. It looks like a little squash growing out of another one. Kinda funny looking in a cute way but hopefully very tasty 😋

A new post is up on the blog! I’m telling y’all my biggest reasons for doing a #whole30 this month that are keeping me going all 30 days (only 5 to go! 🤗) all my reasons tie back to each other and how I felt before the challenge started. I can already say I’ve seen major benefits and I’m not even done! The challenge has definitely been worth it. Check out all my ‘whys’ at the link in my bio!

On a different note, Andrew and I went to vail on our way home from Steamboat last month. I’m so glad we stopped because it was a beautiful town! I wish we had time for a hike while we were there ☀️

After hiking 5ish miles in Boulder yesterday, I’m probably not doing much today but y’all it was worth it! That was my first solo hike which I would highly recommend. I loved being able to just listen to nature as I walked along the trail- no headphones or phone, just me.

Some tips if you want to hike solo:
1. Do research before hand on where to go, how far the trail is, and what wildlife you might encounter. Chances are you won’t come across anything dangerous but I felt more comfortable knowing how to react if I did.
2. Bring plenty of water! I had 2 liters for my hike yesterday and I drank almost all of it.
3. Start with a moderately used trail. It helps to come across people every so often to not feel completely isolated.
4. Don’t tell anyone you meet on the trail you’re hiking alone! Keep the illusion that you’re meeting up with people at some point.

I was definitely a little nervous at first and it think it’s important to be cautious but I moved to Denver to have experiences like this and it’s totally worth it!

Spent last Saturday wandering around Boulder. I loved looking at all the shops on Pearl Street and the farmer’s market was my favorite I’ve been to! I didn’t buy much since we were planning to spend the whole day in Boulder but I did get some amazing @chiporro hot sauce y’all have been seeing on my stories. Boulder reminded me so much of Austin. It was so fun! I can’t wait to go back soon.

Now I’m in Steamboat for a long weekend of hiking and fishing. It feels so good to be on vacation! I am a pretty active person by nature and I feel like I’m really embracing that part of myself since I moved to CO 😊

This weekend I went on my first hike since moving to Denver!!! 🤗 It had actually been 2 years since I had been hiking which is crazy since it’s one of my favorite things. Check out that view. Isn’t it beautiful?! I’m thinking of buying an annual pass for the state parks so I can see them all (well most of them).

I had the best time celebrating my birthday this weekend with good friends and good food! Saturday night we got tacos and margs for a fun night with friends 💃🏻. Sunday we started the day with brunch with girlfriends and then Andrew and I had the best dinner date at @steak48 in River North 😍💕 (get the pb chocolate milkshake y’all, you won’t regret it) He really made this the best birthday weekend possible 🤗 I feel so lucky to have such worderful people in my life 😊 and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for 24!

Y’all I had the most intense cupping session this weekend. Go to my stories to see the marks. 😳 I’ve hit a bit of a plateau so I at the suggestion of my acupuncturist, I saw someone who is a specialist in chronic/stubborn pain. We were talking about my migraines and after asking me some questions, she was able to perfectly describe my headaches and where they move through my head. 🤯 it was amazing. I’m definitely going back to her. She had lots of ideas for helping my migraines so I’m going to try it out and see what happens!

‼️MAY GOALS‼️I went on a little vacation to Denver this weekend and I want to bring home a bit of the food mindset I had when I was there. Basically I ate whatever I want and didn’t stress about food. If I was hungry, I ate. When I wasn’t hungry, I didn’t. Pretty much as simple as it gets.

Sometimes I get so caught up in what will or won’t trigger a headache that I get stressed out and make unhealthy choices anyway. The stress is probably just as large of a contributor if not more than the food triggers.

GOALS: this month I’m going to focus on removing the stress around food. I will eat what I want but not over eat and have a veggie with 2/3 of my meals (sometimes I need a grab and go breakfast!)

Over the weekend I did a second cupping session but this time I added acupuncture. I feel like the second session was even better than the first. My legs loosened up and my back stayed looser for longer. The marks have lightened pretty quickly too. The acupuncture was to help my headaches and it did! The one I had at the time went away and I got a few headache free days which is a blessing these days. 🙏🏻 If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend. They put the needles in my hands and feet which blew my mind! 🤯 I thought they were going to go in my face. The hardest part was having to sit still with myself for 20-30 minutes. Yikes. It was a reminder that I need to start meditating. 🙄 Tonight I’m dry needling at PT so I’ll let you know how it compares.
