$It’s possible to have the bathroom of your dreams without spending a fortune. Here’s how we made it happen: details. We chose affordable floor tile and that savings allowed us to splurge on Schluter Ditra heated floors. Rather than solid slabs, the large format porcelain tile on surrounds were a steal at $2.69/sqft (at the time of purchase) which helped us invest in a sleek American Standard 72” Sheba Resin Bathtub. Instead of custom mirrors, we went with oversized prefabricated mirrors with modern black metal frames for a fraction of the price. With the savings, we splurged on a 10’ Starphire Ultra Clear glass shower enclosure. We did budget-friendly sconces and invested in a statement chandelier for over the tub. Lastly, rather than a pricier natural stone, we chose clean, simple white zen quartz countertops. Kitchen stools can make or break your island. Here’s how to choose the right ones:

Step 1: Scale. The rule of thumb is 10–12 inches between the seat and your countertop.

Step 2: Quantity. Leave at least 6 inches between each stool so it feels inviting, not crowded.
