I couldn’t find anything in my collection that I felt went with the makeup look and my sweater (more details on that to come) so I finally started digging through the GIANT jewelry chest from my dearly departed grandmother. She’s been gone for two years now and I’ve had all her treasures for about 18 months. I just couldn’t bring myself to go through it before. I don’t know what it was about this day but I had the time and the strength to dig a little bit and it brought me so much joy and peace. I’ve missed her SO much and finally going through some of her pieces I felt closer to her again

As a little girl when we would visit my grandparents I would run down the hallway to her dressing room immediately upon arriving at the house and start putting on every bracelet, necklace, hat, shoes, etc I could find and fit on my little body lol. Being her only granddaughter she didn’t mind one bit and I always had free reign. Having ALL of her jewelry and the massive chest she housed it in means so much to me, whether I wear half of it or not. It’s a little piece of her I’ll always have with me no matter what

I love when brands incorporate skincare into face makeup, it’s one of the reasons I love @pixibeauty so much!

This is not about Pixi though, this glory is all going to @maybelline. This is no longer the makeup my mother, possibly even my grandmother, wore. Nor is this the makeup I started out wearing when I first got into makeup. Maybelline has come a looooooong way since all those days that I still remember so vividly, and they’ve launched an amazing new foundation which I am HERE FOR!

This is the Radiant Dream Liquid foundation with COLLAGEN and HYALURONIC ACID. This lightweight foundation boasts to moisturize skin and give a natural look while delivering up to 12 hours of hydration. Normally I would never reach for a hydrating foundation because I have normal to oily skin. But I love me some hyaluronic acid and collagen so I had to try it
.
I’ve played with this a few times and never fell in love until yesterday. I used it WITHOUT a primer and I also applied with a beauty sponge instead of a brush like I usually apply my foundations with. The previous times I tried it with a brush (even used a sponge after to help blend) and a primer I did not care for the finish. I felt like it was sitting on top my skin and not blending INTO my skin which left me with a very cakey feeling from the start. It also did not stay put and slid around as I was doing the rest of my makeup
.
However, no primer and only using a sponge to apply was a GAME CHANGER and I ADORE this foundation now. In the photos I am only wearing the foundation, no powder or any other products. You can see how it doesn’t even look like I’m wearing foundation. My skin looks like skin, just evened out but perfectly natural. This is exactly what I like for my foundations on a day to day basis. Using the sponge and no primer my skin absorbed the foundation and everything blended smoothly and flawlessly which meant for perfect makeup application of everything I put on top of it
.
I wore the makeup all day and it wore just as well as any of my other regular foundations. It didn’t look overly oily as my natural oils came through and it never felt cakey, greasy or heavy 👍🏻👍🏻

You guys know I’ve been using @genuinehealth #cleancollagen for MONTHS now and can’t be without it. I used to add it in my water bottle while I was working out but now I prefer it as a kind of after workout treat/refresher. A collagen cocktail if you will 🤤
.
I’ve been loving mixing it into some @bublysparklingca of any flavour. The pineapple berry collagen flavour adds just the right amount of flavour to the bubly and it’s a fizzy, sweet, fruity treat. Totally keeps away any and all cravings I may get for pop and it’s so good for me!
.
If I want some added flavour and/or added nutrition, I’ll take it a step further and mix in 2 tsp of one of my @unicornsuperfoods powders. No need for juice with added sugars or calories and it’s so refreshing
.
I’m still LIVING for the benefits of this #collagenpowder too. I notice continued improvement in the hydration of my skin, especially with our crazy up & down extreme Canadian winter. I’ve been having less and less discomfort in my joints and if something does happen I am noticing my recovery time is quicker. Prime example, when I chipped all that ice off our driveway a couple weeks back it majorly aggravated some carpal tunnel in my right thumb/wrist. When my carpal tunnel used to act up previously it would be painful/uncomfortable for a whole week (depending how much it was acting up). After the ice chipping I had a major flare up but I was able to recover in 3-4 days 🙌🏻👍🏻

Comparisons like these are usually posted as #0to100 or something along those lines, and yes I’ve done them previously myself (we all get sucked in by #clickbate every now and again)

But I’ve changed my mindset and I’m here to share that “revelation”. As I said, BOTH of these are 💯 because both of these are 100% ME! Just different sides of me. By no means is the Bree on the left a zero!! If anything she is more than 100 times anything versus Bree on the right as the one on the left is clearly living off coffee and giving everything of herself to everyone else without even thinking of herself...other than “I need more coffee”☕️
.
HOWEVER let that not take away anything from Bree on the right because she is fierce and felt fierce in that moment, makeup, outfit etc and she felt recharged and ALIVE. She cared for herself and practiced #selflove by having a long, hot shower, doing some extra skincare, washing & styling her hair, and obviously playing with some makeup which she simply enjoys doing
.
I’m a #stayathomemom who juggles many many things from 2 busy boys, to 4 pets, and everything in between that comes with day to day life. I have my own demons and struggles plus I’m always helping my family with theirs. Most of the time I’m the Bree on the left and wishing I had the time and energy to be the Bree on the right lol. But I don’t feel or think anything less of myself when I’m not the woman on the right

CHEERS TO FAMILY❤️👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 however yours looks and whatever that entails. I wouldn’t change anything about my family, although it has not been easy and there have been very trying times, it’s been so rewarding to grow together and love one another. I’m lucky enough to have two wonderful boys, my eldest is actually my step-son. I’ve had him since he was about nine months old and I chose to raise him and love him as my own. Our youngest is my biological son and it’s been such a journey that I’ve treasured every moment of since conception to now. And I could not have done any of it without my amazing husband and the love of my life. He’s always been so patient, kind, supportive & loving of me and everything I do or want to do. He truly is my partner and I’m beyond grateful that nearly ten years ago he chose to trust me with his and his son’s hearts. Unfortunately you don’t get to see him often as he isn’t a huge fan of taking photos or that big into social media lol

Love it or hate it, Valentine's Day has arrived again. I personally never cared much for Valentine's Day, it's really just a Hallmark holiday if you ask me. Luckily, my husband and I share the same opinion and we don't need a certain day to show those we love how we feel.

Regardless of your relationship status or holiday opinions, this time of year does give us an extra excuse and some encouragement to slap on a bold red lip and paint the town red!

On the blog today I'm breaking down my top recommendations for a bold red lip, both drugstore and high end.
