I'm sharing the exact secrets I tell my photography clients to show up looking stylish and confident. These are my style tips and swaps that will elevate your family photos and create family photos you LOVE this fall.

➞ Swap denim for colored pants, chinos or corduroy pants
 ➞ Add style and depth with layers — think a button-down shirt under a sweater or a chocolate brown suede jacket over a textured shirt
 ➞ Mix in rich textures like suede or ribbed knits. Texture adds so much to the photos and works great when you are going for a monochromatic look or neutrals
 ➞ Skip the Nikes and opt for loafers, boots or leather sneakers
 ➞ Stick to timeless fall tones or neutrals: navy, camel, olive, stone, cream, rust

➞ Fit is everything. Slim, clean lines > baggy or boxy.

✨ You need time. Dreamy, emotional, Pinterest-worthy photos don’t happen in 10 rushed minutes.

✨ If you want a calm, meaningful morning, maybe don’t get ready with 14 people in one hotel room.

✨ Your venue might be stunning, but if we can’t access the best light or locations when we need to, those spots won’t make it into your gallery.

✨ Not doing a first look? That’s okay! Just know your day will feel more go-go-go, and you’ll likely miss cocktail hour to get portraits done.

✨ Family photos will feel chaotic if you don’t have a predetermined list. Remind the VIPs what is happening and where they need to be so we get all the photos you want.

✨ No rain plan for photos? You might be disappointed with the options we have to use. Find a rain backup photo location you LOVE just as much as your outdoor option.

✨ Having a “friend” as your day-of coordinator = you being the planner on your wedding day. Hire a pro and actually enjoy it.

✨ Padding your timeline is the key to not feeling stressed on the wedding day. Things will run late, and that dreamy golden hour might get cut short or you might have to miss out on photos you really wanted.
