When styling a simple outfit, It’s all about proportions 🤍

Barrel leg trousers add width through the hip, which makes them a great silhouette for balancing an inverted triangle shape. But you don’t need to be an inverted triangle to wear them, if you’re wearing a wider-leg or barrel-leg trouser, a cropped jacket is a really easy way to balance the proportions, define your waist and create more of an hourglass effect.

It’s a simple styling trick that makes a big difference to how the whole outfit feels.

An easy UK summer outfit that feels polished without trying too hard.

I’m wearing the Zara frog fastening linen shirt in a size L as I wanted a more oversized, relaxed fit. I find the vertical frog fastenings really flattering if you have a fuller bust or broader shoulders, as they naturally draw the eye down the body and create a more elongated silhouette.

I’ve paired it with my Citizens of Humanity Ayla jeans in a size 26. They have a relaxed fit through the leg. I’d recommend sizing down if you prefer a more fitted waist, or sticking to your usual size for the intended relaxed look.

Finished with my brown suede Little Liffner bag and simple silver jewellery for an effortless, elevated feel.
