Part 2 of trying to make my son’s waves into curls… per his request.

Last time we tried using hair clips and twisties to see if we could give his waves more curl. This time we switched things up. We applied:

@ocoabeauty Hydrating Curl Cream and Curl Defining Styling Gel

then sectioned his hair and put on the foam rollers before bedtime so he could sleep with them overnight.

This round was a little harder because he recently got a haircut, so his hair was shorter and a bit tricky to wrap around the foam rollers. But I still think it was a fun experiment.

Now the big question… what do you think of the results? Should we try again once his hair grows a little longer, or maybe try a different tool?

Part 2 of trying to make my son’s hair curly… per his request.

If you saw part one, you already know he asked if I could make his wavy hair curly. And before anyone says it, yes I know you cannot permanently change someone’s natural hair pattern. But when your kid asks, you at least try.

So for round two we decided to experiment with foam rollers to see if we could give his waves a little more curl and shape.

This is definitely more about having fun, experimenting, and letting him explore his hair than actually changing his hair type. At home we always focus on embracing his natural hair pattern first.

But I have to admit… I was curious to see what would happen.

Si viste la parte uno, ya sabes que me preguntó si podía hacer que su cabello ondulado fuera rizado. Y antes de que alguien lo diga, sí, sé que no se puede cambiar permanentemente el patrón natural del cabello. Pero cuando tu hijo te lo pide, al menos lo intentas.

Esto es más para divertirnos, experimentar y dejar que él explore su cabello que realmente intentar cambiar su tipo de cabello. En casa siempre nos enfocamos primero en aceptar su patrón natural.

Pero tengo que admitir… tenía mucha curiosidad de ver qué iba a pasar.

Day 1 vs Day 6 and this is why I always document the full week.

You can clearly see the progression. By Day 6 there’s more shrinkage compared to Day 1. The curls have tightened up, settled into their natural pattern, and lost some of that freshly styled stretch. That’s completely normal and part of how curls evolve as the days go on.

Day 1 shows maximum elongation and fresh definition.
Day 6 shows the real test, longevity, hold, and how well the routine actually performed.

Seeing the difference between Day 1 and Day 6 is exactly why I focus on routines that last, not just routines that look good for a few hours.
