Choosing a hardwood floor stain feels overwhelming unless you do this…
Test them directly on your actual flooring before you decide. Every stain looks different depending on the type of wood, the lighting, and what else is in the room. A sample or picture will never give you the whole picture.

Here are the five I tested: polyurethane, provincial, special walnut, early American, and nutmeg. Seeing them on the actual flooring made my decision clear.
