Today’s cooking episode: Brownie Carrot Cake with Brigadeiro Topping 🍫🥕

In Brazil, this is one of our favorite cakes — my family always has carrot cake on the table. It tastes like home to me.

Ingredients
Brownie Layer: ⅔ cup melted butter, 1 ¼ cups sugar, 3 tbsp cocoa powder, 2 eggs, 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 tsp baking soda.
Carrot Cake Layer: 3 grated carrots, 3 eggs, 3 cups all-purpose flour (sifted), 1/2 cup canola or coconut oil, 2 cups sugar, 1 tbsp baking powder, 1 pinch of salt.
Brigadeiro Topping: 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 1/2 carton heavy cream, 4 tbsp cocoa powder.

Instructions
1. Brownie Layer: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Mix melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and eggs until creamy. Add flour and baking soda. Transfer to a greased 9” bundt pan and bake for 25 minutes. Set aside.
2. Carrot Cake Layer: Mix eggs, sugar, oil, and grated carrots. Add sifted flour gradually, mixing gently. Add baking powder and salt. Pour the carrot batter over the brownie layer and bake for 40 minutes or until golden.
3. Brigadeiro Topping: In a saucepan over low heat, cook condensed milk, heavy cream, and cocoa until thickened and pulling away from the pan. Pour over the cooled cake. Optional: double the recipe to fill the cake.

Oura Ring vs. Apple Watch 💍⌚️✨

The Oura Ring focuses on overall health and wellness — not just workouts. It gives personalized insights on your sleep, recovery, readiness, and activity, and tracks things like heart rate, temperature, and stress to help you understand how your body’s doing each day.

It’s also great for cycle tracking and noticing early signs when your body needs rest.

That said, it’s not the best for real-time workouts — the tracking can be a little inconsistent, and it doesn’t have built-in GPS.

So overall, the Oura Ring is perfect for wellness and recovery, but if you want precise live workout data, the Apple Watch still wins.
