One of the funny things I get asked all the time is what the back of my haircut looks like, so I finally had my stylist walk me through it. She does cutting only — real precision work — which is getting harder to find with short hair. She’s Vidal Sassoon trained, so cutting and coloring are completely separate lanes, and honestly, you can tell.

For color, the darker shade you see is actually my natural (around a 5N), and the blonde is just lifted with bleach. My hair has gotten more stubborn to process over the years, so she’ll use a 20–30 developer, and I’m religious about deep conditioning to keep everything healthy.
