In an effort to kick my doom-scrolling phone habit, I've been picking up audio books and library books instead and it has turned into a busy reading month for me, finishing 7 books! A few of favorites from this month:  Hazel Says No by Jessica Berger Gross -- quick-witted humor made some of the heavy topics in this book more digestible. I loved the characters in this spirited family that moves to Maine from Brooklyn and has their lives turned upside down in a small town setting. Salty by Kate Meyers -- a light and spirited story with "Below Deck" vibes! I loved how this one was told from both perspectives of the filthy rich and morally questionable yacht owners, and the below deck staff and captains that man their boats.  A Marriage at Sea by Sophie Elmhirst -- this was a true story of a husband and wife who became shipwrecked in the middle of the ocean as newlyweds, surviving on a life raft for over a month with just each other and their wits. I couldn't believe it was based on real events!  The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna -- the only way to describe this is a perfectly cozy fall read. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was just what I needed to escape and get myself in the mood for the October witchy season! (thanks to @sundayreadingbookclub for recommending this one!)  The Boxcar Librarian by Brianna Labuskes -- This one followed three female protagonists through their adventures in rustic Montana through the 20s and 30s, it reminded me of a Kristin Hannah book with the well researched historical fiction and strong female characters.
