our goal with the full bathroom at the #witchymodern house was to create a spa-like oasis. a massive walk-in shower anchored one end of the bathroom, while this beautiful freestanding tub was located at the other end. the tub provides the perfect spot for soaking while admiring the beautiful cement tile! #dwelloctober

we loved how the living area at the #witchymodernhouse was a step lower than the kitchen. this elevation change gave the living room a peaceful, cozy feel. white walls, white oak flooring, and updated lighting really transformed the space into a large and inviting sitting area. #dwelloctober

we went bold with the tile in the #witchymodernhouse bathroom, using a black and white star pattern cement tile for the floor and floating shower bench. since the star tile was so eye catching, we kept it simple with the wall tile, opting for a matte white kitkat tile stacked in a vertical grid pattern. #dwelloctober

possibly our favorite before and after to date! we added an entire floor to transform this small commercial space into a beautiful, modern home. we opted for black windows, charcoal board and batten siding, and steeply pitched rooflines to give the #witchymodernhouse some style. #dwelloctober

every project is different, but the exterior was definitely the jumping off point for the design of the #witchymodernhouse. we knew we wanted to go dark and moody with the siding, windows, and roof, so we added some silver accents and a light blue door for contrast. #dwelloctober

when designing a house from scratch, don’t underestimate the importance of windows! windows on both walls of this corner bedroom at the #witchymodernhouse provided the best natural light. the contrast of the black windows against the white walls and white oak floors created a fresh, modern feeling throughout the house. #dwelloctober

one of our favorite spaces we’ve ever designed happens to be the kitchen at the #witchymodernhouse! we opted to forgo upper cabinets and went for a minimal, modern look. we love how the olive green cabinets add color and warmth to the space, but still feel neutral and timeless. the other major design statement in this kitchen is the cement tile backsplash—the vertical diamond pattern has an elongating effect and adds movement to the space. #dwelloctober

now that the weather is warming up, we are starting to think about outdoor spaces! we created a small backyard oasis at the #witchymodernhouse by installing low maintenance paver stones and gravel, as well as a horizontal wood fence. this cozy egg chair is perfect for relaxing. #dwelloctober

talk about a dramatic before and after! when we first purchased the #witchymodernhouse, we knew we wanted to transform the enclosed stairwell leading to the attic into an open, airy staircase. to accomplish this, we replaced the existing wall with a black metal railing and added white oak stair treads and bold black and white cement tile to the risers. we love how these elements add bold style to the space, but are still neutral. #dwelloctober

mixing metals is always a controversial topic, but the kitchen at the #witchymodernhouse may have been the biggest mix yet! the new, but retro-style white fridge shines against the matte black faucet and allows the bronze cabinet hardware to pop. #dwelloctober

black windows or white? we’re seeing a lot more black windows in projects lately. we love how they frame a space and add contrast. they worked perfectly with the bright white walls in the #witchymodernhouse primary bedroom shown here. #dwelloctober

do you crave color or do you prefer to surround yourself with soothing neutrals? we are proponents of both, depending on the individual space! we opted for a classic black and white color scheme in this full bathroom design at the #witchymodernhouse. the bold, star patterned cement tile served as the focal point for this design, so we kept the rest of the selections simple, using matte black plumbing fixtures, a brass mirror, and warm wood accents. #dwelloctober

even without changing the footprint, you can make a space feel so much larger by adding a few well-positioned doors and windows. the kitchen at the #witchymodernhouse was transformed by the addition of two windows over the sink and by changing an existing small window into a back door that let in the natural light. this room went from a dark, enclosed space to a bright and airy kitchen. #dwelloctober

it's the little things that make a space feel extra special! a small piece of furniture, such as this teak stool in the #witchymodernhouse bathroom, can add function and warmth without taking up tons of space. #dwelloctober

it may be counterintuitive, but dividing an open room into separately defined areas can actually make a space feel larger. in this before and after of the #witchymodernhouse, we added a back door to create a small hallway off the kitchen with access to a powder room, laundry room, and coat closet. these small changes were super efficient and made the first floor functional for everyday life. #dwelloctober

sometimes it’s more productive to work at a desk, and sometimes you just need a comfy chair to curl up in. this office at the #witchymodernhouse offers the best of both worlds! the vaulted ceilings and large windows made this second floor office space feel like an airy, light-filled oasis tucked away on the second level of the house. #dwelloctober

can you believe this is the same angle?! by opening up the staircase and adding a window, we transformed this dark corner of the #witchymodernhouse into an airy, light-filled space that feels twice as large. the black window and black metal stair railing provide the perfect contrast to the white oak hardwood floors and white walls. #dwelloctober
