Packing for three days without packing for three weeks. 😉✈️ #ad

As a personal stylist, I’m always thinking about versatility when I pack—fewer pieces, more outfit combinations, and everything needs to earn its spot in my suitcase.

For this trip, I’m packing it all in my @BAGSMART_official Getaway Carry-On with the Moss Tote for everything I want to keep within easy reach while I’m traveling. The goal: plenty of outfit options without the overpacking. 🙌🏻

Hills I will die on as a personal stylist: these 3 pieces belong in every woman’s closet 👇

And I’m not talking about trendy pieces or investment splurges. I’m talking about the kind of foundational pieces that make everything else in your closet work better. Click the link to see exactly what they are — but here’s why they matter:

✨A great pair of jeans. Not just any jeans — the right pair for your body. When your denim fits well everything you put with it looks better. It’s the foundation of half your wardrobe.

✨A classic denim jacket. The layering piece that goes over everything, works in every season, and never goes out of style. If you don’t have a great one you’re missing a key piece of your wardrobe puzzle.

✨A slim elevated sneaker. The shoe that bridges the gap between casual and polished — dressy enough for a put together look, comfortable enough for a full day. The right sneaker changes everything.

All three are linked below — go see which exact pieces made the list! 👇

A day in the life of a personal stylist 🎬✨ — and this one was a little different.

Dana and I spent the day at Seventh Story Studios styling 24 women for a photo shoot. We pulled up with our cars completely loaded, got handed the keys to an entire wardrobe trailer — a first for us — and got straight to work. Unloading garment bags, steaming every piece, organizing every shoe, belt, scarf and accessory so that when the women started arriving, we were ready.

And then it was go time.

One by one, we worked with each of them — pulling looks, making adjustments, and doing our best to make every single one of them feel really seen and really special.

By the time we loaded everything back up, we were exhausted. But our hearts were so full.

So naturally, Dana and I headed straight to North Italia for a glass of wine and some appetizers. Because some days deserve a proper toast. 🥂
That trendy top you bought because it was on sale? $64.
The viral jeans that looked amazing on the influencer? $198.
The “statement piece” you were excited about? $118.

You wear them once, then they live in your closet taking up space and mental energy.

Over a year, that’s easily $500-$1000+ on pieces you don’t actually wear.

Real style isn’t about buying trends. It’s about buying basics that work forever, then adding ONE trendy piece you genuinely love—not just because it’s viral.

Your money should go toward pieces you’ll wear 50+ times, not once.

It’s never really just about the clothes.

After years of working with women in all different seasons of life, I’ve seen what happens when someone finally feels like herself again in what she’s wearing.

She stands a little taller. She stops second-guessing herself. Getting dressed becomes easier. And she walks into the meeting, the dinner, the event—or just her everyday life—feeling confident and ready to show up.

That’s the part of personal styling I’ll never stop caring about. 🤍

Because when you feel good in what you’re wearing, it changes the way you show up everywhere else.
Everyone thinks personal stylists just take you shopping.

And yes…we shop. 😂

But honestly? Shopping is one of the smallest parts of what we actually do.

Before I ever pull a single piece for a client, I’m thinking about her real life. Where is she actually getting dressed to go? What does she already own? What does she reach for over and over again? What sits untouched? What makes her feel great? What is consistently making getting dressed harder than it needs to be?

Because anyone can help you buy more clothes.

The real work is figuring out which clothes will actually make your wardrobe—and your life—work better.

Sometimes that means shopping.

Sometimes it means realizing you already own exactly what you need and just haven’t figured out how to wear it.

Sometimes it means identifying the handful of pieces that would suddenly make 20 other things in your closet more useful.

And sometimes it means telling you that you absolutely do NOT need another version of the thing you already own seven of. 😂

A successful personal styling experience isn’t measured by how many shopping bags you leave with.

It’s whether getting dressed feels easier after we’re done. 🤍

You fall in love with a piece in the store, but when you get home it doesn’t work with anything you own. So it hangs there. Unworn. Mocking you.

Before you buy ANYTHING, mentally style it with 3 outfits using pieces you already have. Can’t think of 3? Put it back.

This one question eliminates closet regret, saves you money, and builds a wardrobe where everything actually gets worn.

The wrong rise makes you look shorter, wider, or uncomfortable all day. The right rise? Game changer.

High-rise elongates your legs if you have a longer torso. Mid-rise works for balanced proportions. Low-rise is tricky and rarely flatters anymore.

But here’s what NO ONE talks about: once you find YOUR rise, every other jean feels wrong. And suddenly you look 10 pounds lighter just because the fit is right.

It’s not about your body. It’s about finding the cut designed for YOUR proportions.

Most women are wearing the wrong rise and blaming their body instead of the jeans.

A Day in the Life of a Personal Stylist ✨ Morning walk, then straight to a styling session at a client's home with Dana. Today's goal was taking her new pieces and mixing them with what she already owns to create as many new looks as possible — and the details are everything. Shoes, accessories, layers, proportions... even pushing up a sleeve can completely change an outfit. By the end we had tons of new looks ready for her to easily recreate. One last Nordstrom pickup and that's a wrap.

Just another day! 😊
“Age-appropriate” is code for: play it safe, tone it down, blend in, take up less space.

So women 40+ wear beige, cover up, avoid color, avoid trends, dress conservatively. And somehow that reads as… older.

The most stylish women we work with? They stopped following age rules and started dressing with confidence.

They wear color. They try trends (their version of them). They wear what makes them FEEL amazing. And they look current, elevated, and younger than women who are “dressing their age.”

Real style at any age is about fit, proportion, and wearing what makes YOU feel confident—not following arbitrary rules about what your age “should” look like.

There’s no expiration date on style. Only rules that hold you back.

✨ Follow for styling that breaks the rules

The outfits that look the most effortless usually have a little contrast.

Think:
• sporty sneakers with a feminine dress
• structured pieces with relaxed pieces
• polished accessories with casual basics

When everything matches perfectly, an outfit can start to feel predictable.

The magic is often in the mix.

No, the trick isn’t buying more clothes. 👀

It’s this: before you shop, make outfits with what you already own.

Pull out the pieces you wear most and challenge yourself to style each one 2–3 different ways. Change the shoe. Add a layer. Try a different bottom. Tuck the shirt. Add a belt or jewelry. Then take a photo of every combination that works.

Suddenly, those same five outfits become 10, 15 or 20—and you start seeing your closet very differently.

And here’s the part that really matters: while you’re doing this, you’ll also start noticing the actual gaps.

Maybe you don’t need another top. You need a shoe that works with three pairs of pants you already own. Maybe you don’t need another dress. You need the right jacket to make the dresses you own feel more versatile.

Create first. Identify the gaps second. Shop third.

It’s one of the simplest things we do as personal stylists, but it completely changes the way you get dressed and the way you shop.

Sometimes the best wardrobe upgrade costs nothing. 🤍

And if you’d rather have someone help you do the editing, outfit building and intentional shopping, that’s exactly what we do. Head to the link in our bio to learn more about working with our personal styling team.

Your body changed—10 pounds, hormones, aging, life—and suddenly nothing feels right.

That’s not a YOU problem. That’s a closet problem.

You’re trying to squeeze into old sizes. Nothing fits the way it used to. You feel frumpy. So getting dressed becomes something you dread instead of enjoy.

The fix? Stop fighting your current body and dress it beautifully RIGHT NOW.

Edit your closet to only what fits today. Learn what actually flatters your current shape. Build outfits for the body you have—not the one you used to have or wish you had.

When your clothes fit your body NOW, getting dressed stops being stressful and starts being easy again.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see?

Thinking the solution is another shopping trip.

Most wardrobes don’t need more pieces.

They need better combinations.

When you know a few go-to outfit formulas, getting dressed becomes faster, easier, and so much more enjoyable.

✨ Style what you own before you shop for something new.

A Day in the Life of a Personal Stylist — Nordstrom Anniversary Sale edition ✨ Dana and I were there bright and early shopping for three different clients — pulling pieces tailored to each of their lifestyles, wardrobes, and personal styles. We may have also tried on a few things ourselves... strictly for research purposes. 😂

Just another day at the office.
Here’s something I wish more women considered when deciding whether something is “too expensive”:

Cost per wear.

Because expensive doesn’t automatically mean overpriced. And inexpensive doesn’t automatically mean a good deal.

When I’m shopping for a client, I’m not just looking at the price tag. I’m thinking:

How often will she realistically wear it?

How many different ways can she style it?

Does it work with pieces she already owns?

Is the quality there?

Will it still have a place in her wardrobe a few years from now?

Then do the math.

A $300 jacket you wear 100 times? $3 per wear.

A $50 top you bought because it was “such a good deal” and wore twice? $25 per wear.

So…which one was actually more expensive? 👀

The next time you’re debating a purchase, don’t just ask, “How much does this cost?”

Ask yourself, “How much will this cost me to actually WEAR?”

That doesn’t mean you should always spend more. And it definitely doesn’t mean expensive automatically equals better.

It means the goal isn’t always to find the lowest price.

It’s to get the most VALUE from the money you choose to spend.

We did a full deep dive on cost per wear—including how to calculate it and how we use it to make smarter shopping decisions—on the Effortless Style blog. Head to the link in our bio to read it, and save this before your next shopping trip. 🤍

A Day in the Life of a Personal Stylist ✨

Heading into Nordstrom today for a personal shopping appointment — but before my client arrives there's plenty of prep work to do. Coffee in hand, I pulled pieces and got the dressing room organized so we could make the most of our time together. Then the fun part — trying everything on and finding the pieces that are just right for her. That's a little behind the scenes of how a personal shopping appointment actually works! 😊

Everyone loves a black blazer because it goes with everything, but a brown one is the real secret weapon for an outfit that feels current and warm 👇

Here’s why a brown blazer deserves a spot in your closet this season:

🤎 It works with more than you think. White, cream, tan, denim, olive, rust, black — a brown blazer plays well with almost every color in your wardrobe. It’s a neutral that doesn’t feel neutral, which is exactly what makes it so versatile and interesting at the same time.

🤎 It adds warmth that a black blazer simply can’t. As we transition into fall, brown is the color that makes every outfit feel rich and seasonal without trying too hard. It photographs beautifully, it flatters every skin tone, and it feels elevated in a way that black can sometimes feel flat.

🤎 It’s the unexpected choice that makes your outfit memorable. Anyone can reach for a black blazer. A brown one signals that you have a point of view — that you’re dressing with intention rather than defaulting to the obvious choice. That confidence reads instantly.

Ready to break free from old-school style rules? 🙌

Here are 3 you should ditch ASAP:
1️⃣ Always tuck your top. - Sometimes a half-tuck or leaving it loose creates a more modern look!
2️⃣ Stick to skinny jeans. - Wide-leg, straight-leg, and flared styles are trending and so flattering!
3️⃣ Avoid mixing prints. - Stripes and florals? Leopard and plaid? They’re better together!

Which rule are you breaking first? Need help modernizing your wardrobe? Let’s chat! 💌

A little weekend behind the scenes of a personal shopping day. ✨

This client is a CEO—but that doesn’t mean her wardrobe is all suits, heels and boardrooms.

Her workdays can take her from meetings to walking through warehouses, so our goal was to round out her wardrobe with pieces that felt polished and professional, but were also comfortable, practical and easy to move in.

And before she ever walked into the dressing room? Lots of sourcing, ordering pieces in, hauling garment bags through the mall 😅 and putting everything together into complete looks so she could see exactly how the pieces would work in her real life.

Because the best wardrobe isn’t built around a title or a dress code.

It’s built around the life you actually live. 🤍

Here are 3 reasons barrel pants are the most flattering pant shape you’re probably sleeping on 👇

✨They’re designed to flatter curves, not fight them. The wider hip and tapered ankle create an hourglass silhouette naturally — no tucking, no belting, no overthinking. The shape does the work for you.

✨ They make simple tops look intentional. A basic tee or tank suddenly looks styled when it’s paired with a more interesting pant shape. You don’t need a statement top when your pants are already doing the talking.

✨ They’re more versatile than they look. Dress them up with kitten heels and a blazer, keep them casual with a draped layer and mesh flats, or tuck in a fitted tee for a polished everyday look. One pant, endless outfits.
You don’t need to know every trend to have great style.

In fact, trying to keep up with all of them can make your wardrobe feel more disconnected from you.

1. Trends don’t automatically work with your proportions or lifestyle.
Something can look amazing on someone else and still not make sense for your wardrobe.

2. Constantly buying trends creates a closet full of disconnected pieces.
If every new item requires completely different shoes, pants, or accessories, you’re not building a wardrobe—you’re collecting outfits.

Instead, choose 1–2 trends each season that genuinely appeal to you and ask:
→ Can I style this with what I already own?
→ Does it work for my lifestyle?
→ Does it feel like me?

That’s how you make your wardrobe feel current without starting over every season.
