Hills I will die on as a personal stylist: these 3 pieces belong in every woman’s closet 👇

And I’m not talking about trendy pieces or investment splurges. I’m talking about the kind of foundational pieces that make everything else in your closet work better. Click the link to see exactly what they are — but here’s why they matter:

✨A great pair of jeans. Not just any jeans — the right pair for your body. When your denim fits well everything you put with it looks better. It’s the foundation of half your wardrobe.

✨A classic denim jacket. The layering piece that goes over everything, works in every season, and never goes out of style. If you don’t have a great one you’re missing a key piece of your wardrobe puzzle.

✨A slim elevated sneaker. The shoe that bridges the gap between casual and polished — dressy enough for a put together look, comfortable enough for a full day. The right sneaker changes everything.

All three are linked below — go see which exact pieces made the list! 👇

A day in the life of a personal stylist 🥐☕ — except this one came with my favorite little helper.

Ryan tagged along for one of her last days before school started, and I honestly couldn't think of a better way to spend it. Chocolate croissants at a little French café in the Gulch, a run to Green Hills for returns and some sourcing, and then I fully put her to work. 😂 Dana and I have a big project coming up and 20+ packages weren't going to unbox themselves.

She hung every single piece without complaining. Honestly? Hire her.

Some days this job is client appointments and dressing rooms. Some days it's this. I love both. 🤍
POV: You’ve been inside enough closets to know that it usually takes about 30 seconds to see what’s making getting dressed so hard. 😂

It’s rarely that she needs more clothes.

It’s the pieces that almost work. The proportions that feel just a little off. The things she bought because she loved them—but never figured out how to wear. And a closet full of perfectly good pieces that don’t actually work together.

We see some version of this in closets all. the. time.

And the best part of our job? Watching the moment it all starts to click—and suddenly she can see outfits where she used to see overwhelm. 🤍
Getting dressed used to feel easy. You knew what worked. You felt like yourself in your clothes.

But somewhere along the way, that changed.

Maybe your body changed. Your lifestyle changed. Your priorities changed. Or maybe you’ve spent so long dressing for your job, your age, trends or everyone else’s expectations that you’ve lost sight of what you actually like.

We see this with clients all the time.

If your closet doesn’t feel like you anymore, here’s where we’d start:

1. Identify what still feels like you.
Pull out 3–5 pieces you genuinely love wearing. What do they have in common? Think color, silhouette, fit, fabric and overall vibe.

2. Pay attention to what doesn’t.
Notice the pieces you consistently skip over—and ask yourself why. Too fussy? Too conservative? Too trendy? Just not your personality?

3. Dress for your actual life.
Your wardrobe should support how you spend your time now, not the lifestyle you used to have—or the one you think you’re supposed to have.

4. Give yourself permission to evolve.
You don’t have to dress the way you did at 30, 35 or even five years ago. Keep what still feels right and let yourself move on from what doesn’t.

Your style should be a reflection of who you are now—not who you think you need to be.

And sometimes rediscovering your style isn’t about buying anything new. It starts with getting curious about what makes you feel most like yourself. 🤍

Save this and come back to these four questions the next time your closet stops feeling like you.
A day in the life of a personal stylist 🎬✨ — and this one was a little different.

Dana and I spent the day at Seventh Story Studios styling 24 women for a photo shoot. We pulled up with our cars completely loaded, got handed the keys to an entire wardrobe trailer — a first for us — and got straight to work. Unloading garment bags, steaming every piece, organizing every shoe, belt, scarf and accessory so that when the women started arriving, we were ready.

And then it was go time.

One by one, we worked with each of them — pulling looks, making adjustments, and doing our best to make every single one of them feel really seen and really special.

By the time we loaded everything back up, we were exhausted. But our hearts were so full.

So naturally, Dana and I headed straight to North Italia for a glass of wine and some appetizers. Because some days deserve a proper toast. 🥂
Here’s something we see all the time as personal stylists: “I have nothing to wear” usually isn’t a clothing quantity problem.

In fact, some of the fullest closets we walk into are the hardest ones to get dressed from.

The problem is usually that there are plenty of individual pieces—but not enough pieces that actually work together. Too many impulse purchases. Too many “almost right” pieces. Too many things bought without considering what was already in the closet.

So when getting dressed feels hard, our first instinct is not to tell a client she needs more clothes.

We figure out what’s keeping the wardrobe from working.

Because a closet with fewer pieces that fit well, work together and support your actual life will serve you infinitely better than a closet packed with things you bought because you liked them individually.

The goal isn’t more clothes. It’s a wardrobe that works.

And there’s a very big difference. 🤍
Five shoes I'm removing from my closet because they're not serving me — and a reality check if you're keeping yours for "some day." 👟

Day 1 of my Closet Reset Series and we're starting with shoes. Two pairs of boots, two pairs of sandals, and a pair of fall mules — all gone. Some of these I stopped wearing because they're just not my style anymore. Some I never really wore to begin with. And honestly? Keeping things out of guilt or "just in case" is one of the biggest things cluttering up your closet and making getting dressed harder than it needs to be.

If you've been holding onto shoes that don't fit your life right now, this one's for you. Comment RESET below to schedule a closet audit consultation with our team. 👇

Most women don’t call me because they need more clothes.

They call me because they’ve reached the point where more clothes aren’t helping anymore.

Their closet is full. They’ve shopped. They’ve tried adding the new jeans, the cute top, the jacket everyone says they need…

And somehow, they’re still standing there in the morning thinking, “I have nothing to wear.”

After years of working with women in their closets, I can tell you: the problem usually isn’t that you don’t have enough.

It’s that you don’t know what works together. You’re missing a few key pieces. Your wardrobe no longer matches your current lifestyle. Or you simply haven’t been shown how to create outfits from what you already own.

That’s the work we do.

We edit. We create outfits. We identify the real gaps. And then we shop—with a plan.

Because the goal was never a closet full of clothes.

It’s a closet that makes getting dressed easier. 🤍

Save this for the next time you’re tempted to shop because you “have nothing to wear.”

It’s about knowing what works for you.

✨ Ever put on an outfit and feel like something is off? The secret is The Rule of Thirds!

Instead of splitting your outfit in half (which can make you look boxy or unbalanced), try dividing it into ⅓ + ⅔ proportions. This creates a more flattering, effortless look.👖

Example:
High-waisted jeans + a tucked-in sweater = ✔️
🚫 Low-rise jeans + a long untucked top = ❌

Try it out and see the difference! Would you wear this? 👇

A Day in the Life of a Personal Stylist ✨

Heading into Nordstrom today for a personal shopping appointment — but before my client arrives there's plenty of prep work to do. Coffee in hand, I pulled pieces and got the dressing room organized so we could make the most of our time together. Then the fun part — trying everything on and finding the pieces that are just right for her. That's a little behind the scenes of how a personal shopping appointment actually works! 😊
Okay, you caught me. There ARE a few downsides to building a wardrobe you actually love. 😉

1️⃣ You stop shopping just because something is cute.
Once you know what works for your body, your lifestyle and your personal style, “but I love it!” isn't enough reason to bring something home.

2️⃣ You start repeating outfits. A lot.
Because when you have outfits that make you feel really good, you stop feeling like you need to reinvent yourself every time you get dressed. Outfit repeating is a sign your wardrobe is working.

3️⃣ You realize you probably need fewer clothes than you thought.
A smaller wardrobe where pieces work together will take you much further than a packed closet full of random things you bought without a plan.

And THAT might be my hottest take as a personal stylist:

The goal isn't to have more clothes. It's to need fewer clothes because the ones you own actually work.

We don't help our clients build bigger wardrobes. We help them build better ones—editing what they own, creating outfits, identifying the true gaps and shopping intentionally to fill them.

So yes, proceed with caution. You might end up loving your closet, getting dressed faster AND shopping less. Terrible, I know. 😉

Save this if you're ready to make your wardrobe work harder—and if you want our help getting there, head to the link in our bio to learn more about working with our personal styling team.

Day 3 of the Closet Reset Series and I'm tackling jackets—and honestly, this one taught me something about myself.

A neutral fitted suede jacket I genuinely loved, but it feels restricting now because I've learned I prefer an oversized fit these days. A denim jacket I wore for YEARS and adored, but I haven't reached for it in a few years for the same reason—fitted just doesn't feel right anymore. A black blazer I've cherished for years, but it's fitted and I recently replaced it with an oversized version that I actually wear. A black casual jacket with wide sleeves that I wore constantly a few years ago, but something about it doesn't call to me anymore and I think those wide sleeves are part of it. And a black faux leather vest that just doesn't fit the way I want—too fitted for what I'm drawn to now.

Here's what they all have in common: my style has evolved. I used to feel polished in fitted pieces. Now? Oversized and comfortable is where I'm at. And keeping jackets I don't reach for is just honoring an old version of myself instead of the woman I am today.

Your closet should reflect WHO YOU ARE NOW, not who you used to be.

If you’ve been wondering when getting dressed got so… complicated, hi. 👋 We’ve been waiting for you. 🤍

We’re Effortless Style, a Nashville-based team of personal stylists, and we work with women every day who tell us some version of:

“I used to know how to dress myself. I don’t know what happened.”

Here’s what we want you to know: your style probably didn’t disappear.

Your life changed. Your body may have changed. Trends changed. The way you spend your days changed. And somewhere along the way, your wardrobe stopped feeling like the woman you are now.

That’s exactly what we help women figure out.

And around here, we share everything we’ve learned from years of working in real closets with real women:

✨ Easy outfit formulas + styling tricks
✨ What’s trending—and how to actually wear it
✨ What’s worth buying (and what you can skip)
✨ How to make more outfits from what you already own
✨ How to identify what’s making your wardrobe feel “off”
✨ And how to rediscover a personal style that feels like YOU again

Because style in your 40s, 50s and beyond isn’t about dressing younger or following a bunch of rules.

It’s about figuring out who you are now—and letting your wardrobe catch up.

If that’s the style conversation you’ve been looking for, you found your people. Follow along. 🤍

And if you’re ready for personalized, hands-on help, you can learn more about working with our styling team through the link in our bio.

You know the closet is full.

You know you have plenty of clothes.

And yet… somehow, by Thursday, you’ve worn some version of the same five outfits again. 😂

The same jeans because you know they fit.
The same top because you know what goes with it.
The same shoes because they’re easy.
The same handful of combinations because you KNOW they work.

Meanwhile, there are dozens of other pieces hanging in your closet that you liked enough to buy…but apparently not enough to actually wear.

So every once in a while, you decide the answer must be shopping.

You buy a few new things. They get added to the closet.

And three weeks later?

Back to the same five outfits.

If this is you, here's the part I want you to hear as a personal stylist: you probably don't have a clothing problem. You have an outfit problem.

You don't necessarily need more pieces. You need to know how to create more combinations with the pieces you already own—and which few strategic additions would actually make your wardrobe work harder.

THAT is when a closet starts feeling completely different.

So before you shop again, try this: pick one piece you own but rarely wear and create three outfits around it.

Your next favorite outfit might already be hanging in your closet. 🤍

Save this if I just described your closet a little too accurately. 😉 And if you're ready for help turning all those clothes into actual outfits, head to the link in our bio to work with our personal styling team.

A little peek at the part of personal styling you don’t always see. 👀

Before the dressing rooms are set, the racks are styled and shoot day begins, there are hours spent behind the scenes sourcing, narrowing down options, placing orders and making sure we have exactly what we need.

Dana and I spent most of this day prepping for a BIG photo shoot project we have coming up later this month, and now we wait for all those boxes to start arriving. 📦😅

And after a full day of sourcing? A glass of wine with girlfriends + a Nashville sunset felt like a pretty perfect way to end the day. 🥂✨

More behind the scenes of this project coming soon…

Here’s something we see all the time as a personal stylists:

Sometimes the problem isn’t your style. Your wardrobe is just stuck in a previous version of your life.

You have work clothes for an office you rarely go to anymore.

A closet full of dressy pieces when your life has become much more casual.

Clothes you’re holding onto because they belonged to a version of you that felt really good—even though you never actually reach for them now.

Or you keep shopping for the life you wish you had instead of looking at how you actually spend your Monday through Sunday.

And then you wonder why a closet full of perfectly good clothes still leaves you feeling like you have nothing to wear.

Your wardrobe should serve the life you’re living NOW.

That doesn’t mean giving up on who you were or caring less about style. Quite the opposite.

It means figuring out what feeling you loved about your old style and translating it into clothes that make sense for the woman you are today.

Your career can change. Your body can change. Your schedule can change. Your priorities can change.

Your style is allowed to change with them.

That’s not losing your personal style. That’s actually knowing it.

Save this if your closet might be ready to catch up with your life. 🤍

And if you need help figuring out what stays, what goes, and what’s actually missing, that’s exactly what we do. Head to the link in our bio to learn more about working with our personal styling team.

This is your sign: stop keeping pieces that have never fit you right. They're never going to magically fit differently. 👕

Day 5 of the Closet Reset Series and this is the one that needed to be said.

That dress you've had for years that's always been too tight in the chest. Those jeans that have never felt right on your body. The jumpsuit you wore once to an event and never touched again. The skirt that looked cute in theory but never actually fit.

You keep them because:
•	You spent money on them
•	You hope that someday they'll magically fit
•	You remember loving the IDEA of them
•	You feel like you're "giving up" if you let them go

But here's what's actually happening: every time you open your closet, you see pieces that don't work for your body. And that's a daily reminder that your closet isn't serving you.

Stop trying to force pieces to work. Stop waiting for your body to change to fit the clothes. Stop keeping things out of guilt.

Your closet should have pieces that fit you BEAUTIFULLY right now—not pieces you're constantly negotiating with.

You deserve clothes that actually work for your body as it is today.

💬 Comment RESET below to schedule a closet audit consultation with our team. 👇
You don’t need sky-high heels to elongate your legs— you just need smart styling.

1) Go high-rise. High-waisted pants or skirts visually lenghten your frame instantly.
2) Monochrome Magic. Wearing one color from top to bottom keeps the eye moving, creating a seamless line.
3) Pointed toes or nude tones. Both give the illusion of extra inches without sacrificing comfort.

Longer-looking legs, no heels required.

And here’s what I mean by that:

💚 A signature look isn’t boring — it’s intentional. The women who always look put together aren’t reinventing the wheel every morning. They’ve found a combination that works for their body, their lifestyle, and their personal style — and they come back to it on repeat. That’s not a lack of creativity. That’s confidence.

💚 Once you find it, getting dressed becomes automatic. For me it’s a striped top under a solid blazer with great denim and a flat sandal. I know it works, I know it photographs well, I know I feel good in it — so I reach for it without thinking. That’s the goal. No decision fatigue, no second guessing, just grab and go.

💚 Your signature look should be built around what actually fits your life. Not what looks good on someone else, not what’s trending, not what you think you should be wearing. The pieces that work for your body, your schedule, and the way you actually live your life. That’s what makes it sustainable and that’s what makes it yours.

OOTD ✨ Light olive blazer + striped tank + cuffed straight leg denim + gold metallic sandals + gold accessories. All from my own closet — linked the closest versions I could find. Everything shoppable below! 👇

A day in the life of a personal stylist 🧘‍♀️☕ Pilates, eggs and avocado, Starbucks, and then straight to a client's closet with Dana.

Our client wasn't even home — her husband let us in and we got to work. That's just how it goes sometimes. 😄

Dana and I have started tag-teaming styling sessions together, and honestly it's a game changer. Two stylists in a closet means more creativity, better problem solving, and we just flat out get more done. By the time we left, we'd pulled 45 complete outfits using pieces she already owned — mixed and matched with shoes and accessories for fall and early winter.

And then I went home and uploaded every single look to her online closet so she can see exactly what to wear and how to wear it, right from her phone.

This is what a styling session actually looks like. 🤍
