Yesterday, I packed up six garbage bags full of clothes for donation. Sweaters, dresses, coats; you name it. Items I’ve accumulated over the last few years of blogging that I wasn’t wearing. Items I bought impulsively and barely used. Items that didn’t really fit my style. Six huge bags of clothes that just sat in my closet and weren’t used. I’m thrilled that I’ve found a local agency for single moms to donate these items to, all barely used, and it brings me joy to think of them going to good use. But when you look at six bags of clothes, you really see the excess that comes with blogging. The need for the next new thing, the gifted items you don’t wear more than once or twice, the constant pressure to buy and wear something new. You know what? I HATE it. And I’ve been hating it for a while. So, with a few weeks break and a new perspective, I’m going back to basics. Wardrobe staples I know I’ll wear (like stripes), recreating looks I love, not always wearing something new. I can’t keep accumulating like this - it’s time to wear what I have and love. Yes, I’ll still be collaborating with favourite brands. Yes, I’ll still buy things occasionally. But with intention and purpose and looking at how I can style something multiple ways. And when I wear an outfit that is older, I’ll still research similar pieces so you have the opportunity to recreate looks if you want to or add pieces to your wardrobe with intention too. Welcome to the new Sparkles, Lace & Sequins, where less is more. ❤️ LTKstyletip LTKworkwear LTKunder50
