Turns our cooking really is more enjoyable in our newly renovated kitchen at Sunrise Farm! So many "firsts" in this design project - the stone backsplash and ledge, the shiplap paneling, this specific choice of quartz, the custom-built hood… so excited how it all came together! My favorite corner of the house is a sanctuary of comfort and warmth, especially on this cold November day. I've been eyeing black boucle chairs since 2019 — when I first saw @dittesvanfeldt stunning dining space. 🖤 The originals were $1K+ each.

I found some lookalikes at CB2 — but even at CB2 my dream dining chairs retailed for $379 each. That's $2274 for a set of six!

But recently I found black boucle chairs on Amazon for $70 each! 😭 Same design…same size…except $420 for a set of 6!

These come in white + rust + green too! 🤩

I find myself whispering these words with a depth of emotion that goes beyond mere sentiment. It's a realization that struck me as we returned from our vacation — a vacation every bit as glorious as we'd hoped and imagined (although a tiny bit too cold for my liking.) Yet it's the return to our home that I eagerly anticipated and this (I believe) is a true accomplishment.

The ocean was indeed mesmerizing – even the rainy days were beautifully peaceful. But there's something uniquely profound about the place where each room (every corner!) holds a story so uniquely yours.

Here even the simplest moments are so very dear to my heart — a morning cup of tea by the window…our beloved collection of vinyl records…the illusive balance of working from home while mothering young children.

"Home. There's nothing like it" I declare as I feel an extraordinary connection to the heart of my existence. While vacations offer escape and adventure — home is the return to authenticity.

To feel genuine excitement in returning home — to hold it in higher regard than a vacation — is an accomplishment I treasure. It's a testament to the profound beauty we've cultivated here. 🤍

Raided my decor closet(s) and found lots more items for staging the Greystone House. I like to visualize or put together possible vignettes beforehand to think through where I could use certain items and how I would style them – so I don’t have to lug too many extra items!

Did I just haul six heavy wood chairs from the garage solely for this quick iPhone snap? You bet I did. Got a whole lot more nonsense where that came from… 😅

I ordered the sheers and another pair of velvet curtains and still looking for the perfect rug – but I'm loving this more traditional direction the dining room is heading.

I got a DM the other day how it's amazing I'm able to make so many design decisions every day – and so quickly at that! If my curtains drama is any indication, that observation couldn't be farther from the truth! I am the most indecisive person EVER when it comes to furnishing my own house – and there's a whole lot of trial and error involved in literally every decision I make. So if decorating is taking a long time on your end too – take heart. You're not alone.

Now help me decide what fabric to reupholster the chairs in! What do you think would look good given the direction I'm heading? Obviously velvet is outta the question now…
